The xr ecosystems data scientist/portfolio manager will lead research and development of technologies and methods for his/her unit while mentoring team members and identifying portfolio expansion opportunitiesThis collaborative role will also perform functions to identify, develop, and track proposals to fund future projects related to xr ecosystemsThis individual will be a thought leader in building predictive analytics and product experimentation capabilitiesThe data science manager will mentor and grow a team of engineering and data scientists to enhance projects at di while also delivering insights that will educate and influence key business decision-making.
What you need:
Masters or ph.dIn industrial and systems engineering, computer science/engineering, human computer interaction, human factors engineering, or related field
3+ years of experience in systems engineering, project management, or research program/project management
Experience funding and developing r&d programs through white papers and project proposals
Experience in data science with subject matter expertise in data engineering or natural language processing
Experience with graphical models and bayesian networks
Ability to lead a team of data scientists through the machine learning lifecycle as it pertains to business-focused data science.
Demonstrated ability to manipulate, analyze, and interpret large amounts of data, organize findings, and translate into actionable insights.
A quick learner can work independently in a matrixed environment, adaptability, and a strong self-teaching ethic while maintaining passion about discovering new things.
What you will be doing:
Provide technical and strategic leadership for a small team of data scientists in the development of extended reality (virtual, augmented, mixed reality) solutions that empower human performance with the aim of leading long-term research initiatives and associated intellectual properties.
Manages a team of data scientists responsible for a portfolio of diagnostic, predictive, and prescriptive analytics projects to support data-driven business decision making.
Supports the continuous evolution and strategy of di`s data science capabilities.
Secure funding for future work through proposal development and direct selling and ensure funded efforts have a strong business case.
Lead the development of solutions by researching advanced technologies for human performance modeling and predicting human-system performance outcomes, and innovative approaches for real-time personalized and adaptive user support, as well as working with di`s ui/ux designers and developers to fully develop the solutions.
Answer and anticipate critical business questions and opportunities through analytical expertise to deliver insights to the business in ways that make significant impacts.
Provide direction, guidance, and delegation of tasks to teams on various projects; develop project schedules, resource requirements, and timelines, delineate constraints/prerequisites and maintain team productivity on project goals and objectives.
Manage project risk by identifying, quantifying and monitoring potential threats
Communicate project status to key customers in relevant functional and technical areas; ensure customer needs are met through resource allocation, project planning, and execution.
Communicate project status to di management and other project teams verbally and through various documentation and presentations, including project schedules, proposals, risk mitigation plans, transition plans, and related concerns and issues.
Maintain knowledge pertaining to di`s strategic direction, goals, and objectives and align projects appropriately.
Demonstrate use of data visualization (tableau, excel), and analytic tools (r, sas, jmp, python, spark) to grasp the business insights from our mountain of data.
Scale and deploy models that provide access to data, dashboards, and critical insights; conduct training to empower teams to self-serve the data and dashboards they need.
Build proactive relationships with peers and cross-functional teams so you understand the relevant questions and needs of the business and use that to advise your analysis.
Partner with data platform and engineering team to continually interrogate the tools, methods, and processes supporting analysis to optimize the cost and function of our tech stack.
Lead through influence on challenge assumptions in favor of building and maturing a data-driven, insightful culture that has the insights it needs to make informed decisions fast and deliver impactful experiences.
