Senior systems engineer at zag technical services, we`re hard at work building a future where technology is a competitive advantage for our clientsWe`re actively seeking a full-time, client-centered senior systems engineer to join our engineering teamAbout the role the senior systems engineer is responsible for advanced level design, administration, and supportThis job requires extensive knowledge and experience dealing with implementation and issue resolution of microsoft server platforms (on premise and cloud), desktop technologies (standard to enterprise), clustered and non-clustered systems, backup, vmware esxi, citrix xenapp, azure infrastructure/services, and storage platforms including enterprise storage area network (san) technologiesAlso included are network design and standardization of firewalls, switching, routing and wirelessIntermediate to expert level experience with persistent and non-persistent virtualized technologies to support enterprise scale useExpert level experience with scripting and automation languages such as powershell, groovy script, and pythonThe ideal candidate is experienced in cloud-based technology, with a firm grasp of emerging technologies, platforms, and applications, and ability to customize them to help our business become more secure and efficientKnowledge and experience:
Six to eight years’ experience in information technology in an administrator role
Subject matter expert with windows server
Subject matter expert with active directory domain services (ad, dns, dhcp, gpo)
Subject matter expert with ad group policies.
Subject matter expert with scripting languages and deployment processes (powershell, groovy script, python)
Subject matter expert with vsphere system administration and support including vmotion, ha, drs, vcenter host profiles, resource pools, storage and vm migrations
Subject matter expert in network topology
Subject matter expert in routing and switching
Advanced knowledge in deployment and maintenance of cisco switches, routers, firewalls, utilizing vmanage etc.
Ability to recommend network security tools and policies
Advanced knowledge with intrusion detection
Advanced knowledge with sdwan
Advanced knowledge with wireless design and implementation
Advanced knowledge of microsoft azure technologies (preferred)
Dell server and storage hardware
Advanced knowledge in o365, sharepoint, nimble, netapp or other similar storage area networks
Advanced knowledge in backup solutions such as symantec backupexec, barracuda, datto or veeam
Strong design capabilities regarding dr and ability to assess business continuity
Bachelor’s degree in computer science, management information systems or comparable discipline or equivalent work experience as systems administrator or network engineer.
Experience in it consulting/services is a plus
Certifications a plus:
Current microsoft administrator role based certifications (365, azure, dynamics, ai, data)
Cisco certified (ccent, ccna, ccnp, vcp, ccie)
Other information technology industry recognized certifications
What you’ll be doing:
Administration and maintenance of windows, azure, vmware, citrix, and linux operating systems.
Technical understanding of contemporary network security devices and services (firewalls, proxy’s, intrusion prevention/detection)
In-depth experience regarding communication and routing protocols (tcp/ip, bgp, ospf)
Technical understanding of cisco routers and switches configurations
Monitor, detect, run network diagnostic, monitoring and analysis
Detect, diagnose, and resolve system issues arising within the system architecture including server hardware, storage hardware, windows, azure, vmware esxi, vcenter
Provides mentorship and direction through technical subject matter expertise to other engineering staff
Systems hardware and software, services, technologies, applications, and standards lifecycle management (long term goals in mind)
Drive the development and implementation of systems architecture, design, and ongoing review of system configurations
Develop, document, and implement operating procedures and participate in training as required.
Develop and maintain documentation in itglue such as best practices, knowledgebase, disaster recovery backup and recovery
Work as technical liaison between other department managers and supervisors when coordinating support activities and project related tasks.
Ensure that systems and related security standards are adhered, review standards periodically with security and it managers
Monitors, diagnoses, configures, enhances system performance within supported parameters to optimize effectiveness of hardware and software resource management
Participate in the “on-call” rotation
Performs other job-related duties as necessary
