Responsible for the execution of plants performance to meet the cost, quality, delivery and safety as laid out in the most recent forecastResponsible for hiring, developing and retaining people in their organizationCost, quality and delivery are critical metrics of success in the automotive industry and the person in this role will be responsible for delivering for their region.
Essential functions of job:
Provides the operational strategy for the region including an identification of any restructuring efforts where necessaryThis may include plant start-ups, plant closures, and new product launches.
Leads daily, weekly & monthly reviews of productivity, scrap, quality, inventory turns, and other key operational metricsHold all departments accountable to the metrics including production, engineering, materials and quality.
Executes flawless launches with greenfield and brownfield programs.
On-site plant reviews minimum once per month on stable plants, and as needed on others.
Ensure root cause and corrective actions are both implemented and shared for all non-conformances in quality, delivery, safety and cost overruns.
Regular visible presence at the plants to develop a firm understanding of the challenges the facility faces, holds team accountable for action plans and leads team through swot analysis to drive results.
Utilizes benchmarking in north america region as well as external competitors to share best practices, demand continuous improvement, and hold teams accountable for standardization.
Communicate effectively with all other functional groups throughout the organization to get results related to annual and long term kpis.
Lead through a matrix organization in a way that inspires confidence on the team to get the job done.
Strategically places the organization and manufacturing plants in a way that attracts new business and sets up the company for future stability.
Through the use of analytics, presents data to leadership team that demonstrates thorough knowledge of the business and allows for effective decision making at the executive level.

Education: bachelor degree in engineering, science or another technical field or equivalent work experience
10+ minimum years of experience.
10+ minimum years of experience within the automotive industry
Candidate must have experience in two (2) or more disciplines at the manager level and have proven success in at least two (2) locations as a plant manager.
Must possess excellent communications skills and have the ability to work effectively with all other functional groups throughout the organization.

Management of green field start-ups as well as new program launches.
Demonstrated project management skills to ensure the execution of multiple projects, simultaneously.
Must be able and willing to travel and work at customer sites, including industrial manufacturing plants which might require climbing, lifting, or working in confined spaces.
Demonstrated knowledge of negotiations (union, vendor)
Knowledge of quality assurance programs
Knowledge of human resources principles and practices
Preferred: bi-lingual (chinese, spanish)
