Leverages customer and market knowledge to identify and win business opportunitiesAdvocates the customer’s position while focusing on winning the opportunityMaintains awareness of current and potential customer’s budget, program costs, risks, and our potential competitorsResponsible for developing and implementing the capture strategy for each opportunityWorks closely with proposal, pricing and marketing managers as well as watershed’s chief operating officerDevelops leads, into opportunities which are then captured and passed to bid and proposals; also works with current customers to identify and cultivate organic growth opportunities.
Responsibilities and duties*
Identify, qualify, and lead new business development in assigned accounts
Develop detailed and actionable account plans that achieve corporate growth targets
Meet with potential government customers, industry partners, and internal team members and inform about watershed’s capabilities and strengths
Maintain and expand productive relationships with government decision-makers, project and program managers, and contracting officers
Participate in business planning, pipeline reviews, solution development, pricing, gate reviews, color team reviews, win theme development, as well as providing proposal writing and reviews as required.
Lead and manage a capture team and maximize customer engagement and interaction
Coordinate with operations (pricing, solutions and technical teams, capture operations
Interface with government at industry events, pre-solicitation conferences; meets with current and potential customers.
Maintain and expand industry connections to form teams to capture programs within the dod and federal civilian marketplace
Partner with operations to monitor project execution to ensure that follow-on efforts remain
Provide leadership and insight to the business development and capture teams on industry best practices for mid-sized opportunity assessment and qualification
Provide insights on acquisition plans of dod and federal civilian agencies
Qualifications and skills*
Successful candidates will:
8+ years of experience working in the federal government contracting community
6+ years working with department of the navy accounts in a bd
4+ years of experience in business development, capture management, and/or program management/administration
Strong dod account development and management experience with demonstrated sales performance
Knowledge of the navy acquisition process, contract vehicles, and relationships with other navy prime contractors
Proven experience identifying and capturing new defense business, including leveraging relationships, developing effective teaming and win strategies
Proven performance in opening new accounts and expanding business
Have experience selling it solutions to the federal governmentA general understanding of cybersecurity is also required (for example understanding risk management framework (rmf), and the challenge it presents to our customers).
Understand how the far affects procurement activities and decisions by our government and commercial partners.
Have executed business development and capture activities in an industry standard manner (i.eBusiness development institute lifecycle; shipley; color team reviews, etc.) shipley capture management or apmp certification preferred
Experience in helping a small business grow its portfolio and realize year over year growth targets.
Be a team player that is committed to quality and integrityBe a self-starter and able to excel in a virtual environment.
Have experience with standard productivity tools such as the ms office suite (project and visio a plus), ms sharepoint, crm tools, collaboration tools (such as teams, zoom, etc.)
Knowledgeable and experienced with monitoring, networking and marketing via social media, specifically linkedin and twitter.
Proven experience in business development or similar role.
Extensive experience in writing and submitting proposals, reports, and business correspondenceExcellent communication skills and strong interpersonal skills, working well within the company and externally across multiple customer and industry communities.
Excellent professional reputation and positive relationships within the industry.
Excellent time management skills: ability to manage competing demands and meet time sensitive deadlines.
