Primary job responsibilities
Work with the design team to determine, evaluate, and communicate product requirements that meet customer needs and manufacturing feasibilityProvide quality and design-for-manufacturing inputs to product development team.
Uses traditional risk analysis tools such as process failure modes and effects analysis to identify and control risk.
Lead efforts to improve quality processes and procedures
Assures product and process quality by designing new and improving existing testing methods; testing finished- product and process capabilities; establishing standards; confirming manufacturing processes.
Develops processes and tools for product and process validation
Transitions processes and tools from validation to in-process testing in volume manufacturing
Train quality assurance technicians the proper methods and procedures to evaluate product.
Uses traditional problem-solving tools such as pareto analysis, 5-why, and cause and effect diagrams to conduct root cause analysis and drive corrective and preventive action.
Evaluates customer returned product to determine cause of nonconformances.
Supports the iso compliance effort by drafting procedures, conducting associated training, and performing audits as necessary.
Collects, analyzes, and presents process data using statistical methods for the purpose of identifying trends, solving problems, and validating corrective actions.
Supports the quality department by troubleshooting quality issues and internal non-conformances.
Required education & experience
Bachelor’s degree in physics, optical engineering, or other related engineering discipline
Minimum 5 years of experience in a manufacturing environment
Minimum 2 years of experience in optics or photonics industries
Preferred experience
Minimum 2 years of experience in a quality or manufacturing engineering role
Familiarity with optical fabrication techniques and processes
Understanding of optical metrology and familiarity with interferometers, spectrophotometers, spectrometers, and laser power measurements
Experience in laser characterization techniques
