Walden university seeks a dean for the college of nursingThe dean is a full-time academic administrator, reporting to the vice provost of the college and is a member of the academic leadership team, leading and contributing to college-wide initiatives, as appropriateThis position has leadership responsibility for the coordination of all level programs for curriculum design, implementation, evaluation and outcomesThe position requires the ability to foster the success of teams and individuals in a distributed, virtual environment and an ability to foster change in self and in faculty, staff and students as needed.

Provides overall leadership and creates an environment of overall excellence for the college of nursing.
Successfully drives the intermediate and long-range goals and plans of the college and leads the school in growth efforts aimed at recruiting, advancing, and maintaining a diverse learning community of faculty, staff, and students.
Leads outcome assessment and resulting continuous/breakthrough improvement initiatives for the college of nursing that are consistent with the overall assessment initiatives for the college.
Leads programmatic accreditation processes for the nursing programs
Monitors the quality and integrity of the nursing programs’ curriculum reflective of ccne standards, state regulatory bodies and program outcomes (retention, graduation, and certification) to ensure alignment where applicable as well as the university and college goals and engagement in accreditation activities in addition to internal reviews as academic program review.
Participates in strategic planning and development of key internal and external college resources and relationships
Demonstrates an understanding of and accountability to the business metrics and effectively holds others accountable to those metrics.
Leads the planning, development, management, and assessment of the college`s faculty, staff, student, academic program, and fiscal resources.
Offers original solutions to solve problems or develop opportunities reflective of the needs of the nursing profession and walden university strategies.
Shows a drive for and works with a focus on continuous improvement.
Develops and shares best practices.
Collaboration with all internal and external service units, health care practicum representatives and other partners to the college of nursing.
Provides oversight and guidance to the student development and evaluation process for programs with the appropriate personnel.
Oversees student success and academic progress efforts in the school.
Provides leadership for faculty and students to engage in school, university and professional/community service and scholarship
Supervises the development and application of personnel policies and procedures, including rewards and recognitions, for the college of nursing that are consistent with the college`s policies.
Supports marketing initiatives to foster the growth of the college of nursing and resulting programs.
Completes performance evaluations of college of nursing administrators and staff.
Significant experience in a position of academic leadership.
A minimum of 10 years related experience in higher education and a track record of success as a faculty member.
Earned doctorate in an area of nursing or health related profession with a master’s in nursing required from an accredited institutionSpecialty area related to the college’s degree programs preferred.
Holds an unencumbered active rn license in good standing
Experience with leadership in academic program/s baccalaureate and higher education in areas of teaching, advising, mentoring, scholarship, and professional serviceDistance learning/online experience preferred
Knowledge of and experience with programmatic accreditation (ccne preferred)
Experience in facilitating faculty/staff development.
Commitment to the promotion of applied research and the recruitment and development of a diverse faculty
Significant record of intellectual and professional contributions to the field of nursing
Commitment to advocating for and experience working with students earning their degrees in a distance learning environment including students who are experienced mid-career professionals
Experience in chairing or serving on phd dissertation and/or dnp scholarly projects.
Strong interpersonal skills
Excellent leadership, communication, team, and human relations skills.
Thrives in a team-oriented environment that emphasizes collaboration and personal accountability
