Wake county information services seeks an experienced web application developer for the building and supporting of internal and external-facing applications.
As a member of the wake county development team, within the county’s information services department, the selected candidate builds applications using modern application architectures and the latest frameworks and toolsThe position contributes to our continued exploration of new technologies, including the use of azure devops services for source control and ci/cd.
Primary responsibilities include, examining existing code base in detail, which may include vb, classic asp, .net winforms, asp.net web forms or mvc, and rearchitectRewriting applications using a asp.net core 6.0 and/or services-based architecture and a modern client-side framework when appropriateThe position also supports existing applications through bug fixes and enhancementsSupport of .net framework mvc/win forms applications, which modernizes applications.
The position maintains professional and effective relationships with customers by partnering with them to provide high-quality, targeted services to exceed expectationsThe successful individual will continuously learn, research and contribute ideas on application development improvements while utilizing a sdlc approachThe position takes ownership of products and serves as technical lead on various initiativesThe position provides rotational on-call support with other team members and participates in knowledge sharing among high functioning teams.

The basics (required education and experience)
Bachelor`s degree in computer science or field related to the area of employment
Three years of related information systems experience
Equivalent education or experience is accepted
Beyond the basics (preferred education and experience)
Previous experience using ef core .net core 3.1 or higher, including api development, razor pages and blazor
Previous experience with ui layout and client-side frameworks, building professional, responsive user interfaces using bootstrap and css
How will we know you`re `the one`?
Previous experience working in software development
Knowledge of working with asp.net framework/asp.net core, c# and one or more client-side frameworks
Knowledge of creating modern, professional web interfaces using bootstrap 4/5 and/or material design
Considerable experience building applications with a sql server or oracle database as the backend
Demonstrated experience designing and building restful apis with asp.net or asp.net core
Solid understanding of the http protocol
Experience building single page applications with angular or another client-side framework
Experience using git for source control and entity framework or entity framework core, as on orm using either a code-first or database-first workflow
Experience writing unit and integration tests
Good understanding of how to implement authentication and authorization for different types of applications including server-side applications, client-side applications and apis
Understanding of various architectural and design patterns including clean architecture, ddd and cqrs.
Strong organizational skills
Ability to accomplish multiple tasks within the agreed upon timeframes
Ability to create a passion for software development by writing clean, low-defect code
Desire and ability to take ownership of a product and go above and beyond the minimal effort necessary to satisfy requirements
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, combined with proven experience designing and building web applications with current microsoft frameworks and tools.
