Vydia’s legal department oversees and manages strategic partnerships, all contractual agreements companywide, legal and rights-related issues (including allegations of infringement), complex copyright claims and all other legal and business affairsWe are seeking a legal assistant to join our team based in our holmdel, nj headquarters immediately (temporarily remote)This position will work closely with vydia’s general counsel and be responsible for supporting day-to-day operations of the departmentIn addition to being an important resource for our legal team, you will assist with strategic partnerships by evaluating and fielding inquiries about various contracts, as well as conducting detailed analyses in support of vydia’s licensed contentThe ideal candidate will be a detail-oriented and analytical thinker who is proficient with spreadsheets, is not afraid of working in a fast-paced environment, has a legal background (ideally with entertainment industry experience) and possesses a thorough understanding of intellectual property rights and u.sCopyright law.

Assist with legal research and conduct detailed account analyses, providing summaries as requested Prepare and review complex contractual agreements, including recording, producer, distribution, and licensing agreements Proactively monitor, manage and communicate all relevant updates, deadlines and other pertinent communications via various partner and provider portals Liaise with other vydia departments to answer questions regarding and ensure strict compliance with all contractual and legal obligations Organize, track and maintain all legal documents and agreements, including summarizing key terms, tracking termination and renewal dates, as well as other contract management functions Assist with kpi tracking and logging of agreement stages and statuses Implement and oversee miscellaneous projects to support the legal department
Bachelor’s degree in a related field from an accredited university Legal experience, with a proficient understanding of contracts, including digital licensing agreements Music or entertainment industry experience, with a deep understanding of the u.sCopyright landscape and general intellectual property rights, experience with royalties or audits is a plus Strong ability to understand and interpret complex contractual provisions Strong ms office skills, with expert proficiency using excel and/or google sheets as an analytical tool, especially with respect to large data sets Prior experience using youtube’s cms, facebook’s rights manager, or any other digital rights-related content management system is a plus A general ability to navigate new technological systems Exceptional organizational, problem-solving and analytical skills Able to prioritize, manage, and work on multiple projects simultaneously in a timely and accurate fashion, with the ability to adapt to working under constantly changing priorities Exceptional attention to detail with no to minimal oversight required in order to organize, input and interpret large volumes of data A self-starter with the ability to take direction yet work independently when required Excellent written, communication and interpersonal skills
