Uw medicine finance has an outstanding opportunity for a limited term conversions programmer/analyst
The uwft fbs conversions programmer/analyst is the primary developer for the finance business systems (fbs) and accounting conversion data extracts, which will be used to populate workday from existing accounting and finance systems.
Per specifications provided by the uwft conversion team, data will be extracted from existing uwm accounting and finance databases, and subsequently scrubbed, formatted, and written to other databases or filesThis data will then be transmitted for use by the uwft team to ingest into workday, populating tenant buildsThis person will leverage ssis, ssms, .net tools, and potentially vba and powershell scripting to accomplish the conversion data deliverablesThe developer will work closely with fbs team members, fbs management, project managers, uwm its staff, and uwft team members to coordinate conversion efforts and to understand the context of the conversion development work that needs to occur by familiarizing themselves with the environment, the tools, and the supported business processes related to the data that is being converted from existing systems to workday.
This work will be iterative as data usage and quality are defined and refined within the workday platformThis person will be a key player in the success of uw medicine to convert from our existing erp systems to workday financialsCompletion of this project will place the university of washington academy and uw medicine onto a single gl and supply chain system, eliminating system and organizational redundancies and maximizing operational and procedural efficiencies.
Become familiar with the portfolio of data that the uwft team is expecting to be provided from the existing erp instances and other ancillary applications.
Coordinate with fbs management and the uwft conversion team to refine the raciassignments for who should be providing specific conversion data.
Working with business process owners, workday specialists and uwft team members, seek clarity and understanding of supported business processes, in order to determine the appropriate extract logic for data to be converted.
Review file specification documents from uwft conversion team and documentation for source systemsCreate or refine data mapping documents, specifying the source data fields (name, type, and length), conversion logic, comments, issues, and destination data fields.
Develop and test sql code to extract the necessary data from source system databases.
Develop, test and implement ssis or similar etl code to extract, transform and output the required data in the specified formats.
Collaborate with uwft data conversion team to support their test cycles, assist in the isolation of bugs or incorrect data and provide modified extract programs to correct any source data errors or deficiencies.
Assist with scrubbing and cleanup efforts of existing data as necessary, in order to eliminate conversion of garbage data and to support proper population of workday data.
Actively participate in identifying gap applications and any newly discovered data integrations that may be needed to support ongoing business processes where data may need to reside in two systems.
Assist other fbs team members in programming data conversions.
Assist with other non-fbs uwm data conversions as time permits.
Bachelor`s degree in a computer science or related degree
5+ years of experience programming data extracts with financial systems
5+ years of ms sql experience
3+ years of experience of developing and deploying ssis packages, vb.net programs and powershell scripts
3+ years of data analysis experience
Ability to take direction and to work independently with minimal supervision in a virtual environment.
Demonstrated ability to build working relationships, to work collaboratively as a team member with people in various positions, and to communicate effectively and clearly.
Equivalent experience may be substituted for requirements
2+ years developing reports in ssrs, crystal reports, boe or a similar tool.
Experience with large multi-entity system implementations
Experience working with hospital financial systems, preferably allscripts erp hefm/hemm or another erp system within the healthcare field.
This position will be remote until the state of washington lifts the “stay at home” order, and uw medicine provides approval for staff to work onsiteIf/when restrictions are lifted, this position will have the option to be 100% remote or be based onsite at the university of washington tower, 4333 brooklyn ave ne, seattle and may travel to other uw medicine locations as required
