Full job description
This will be a hybrid position in which 90% of the time you will work remotely and 10% of the time you will work in the office here in ann arbor, mi.
The department of internal medicine is looking for a data analyst/programmer to support the financial data needs of the departmentUnder the supervision of the senior finance business consultant, this person will help navigate complex data, assist in report development, help improve our finance and reporting processes through access to necessary dataThe internal medicine financial database is 3 years old and it continues to growWe are looking for a team member who communicates well, is goal oriented and has the technical data skills to navigate our complex data needsThis person will help us maintain and improve our current reporting needs and provide insight to improve our processes and documentation.
Functional supervision of this position will be provided by the senior finance business consultantThis supervision will include training, mentoring, daily management of work and technical evaluation of work componentsAdministratively, this position will report to the finance director.
Programmer responsibilities:
Provide programming and process development support for the internal medicine finance department, department leadership and our 13 divisions.
Interface with end-users and programmers to create complex data sets.
Translate abstract concepts and business requirements into technical solutionsDesign and implement databases with respect to access methods, access time, batch processes, validation checks, etl tasks, security, documentation, and analyses methodsModel information in a way such that customers can easily consume the data.
Write programs to extract, transform and load data into oracle tables from various data sourcesMaintain documentation of decisions made during the build of sql queries.
Design, develop and test database objects, such as stored procedures, triggers, functions, tables, views and scripts.
Write sql queries that validate the data accuracy and fulfillment of business requirements.
Develop, maintain, and manage advanced reporting, analytics, dashboards, and other bi solutions.
Create erd, data mapping document and technical specifications.
Collaborate effectively with system administrators, network administrators, and dbas on best practices for all our reporting solutions.
Required qualifications:
Hands-on experience in creating complex views, functions, and stored procedures in the oracle environment.
Demonstrated ability to integrate large data sets from various data sourcesExperience with etl tools, oracle database link and materialized views.
Excellent skills in relational database design and query optimizationAbility to translate business requirements into program codes to support comprehensive data collection and complex analyses.
Strong aptitude for debugging problems independently and tracing root causes across multiple functional teams.
Committed to data security and the protection of sensitive information with demonstrated knowledge of applicable data use/sharing safeguards.
Desired qualifications
Extensive experience with u-m maintained datasets (i.e., revenue cycle, sponsored projects, payroll, human resources, financial…etc.) and data analysis & visualization tools.
Hands-on experience with creating tableau dashboards from concept inception to completionWorking knowledge of tableau architecture, security, and administration.
Knowledge and experience with sap businessobjects universe designer.
Hands-on experience in creating erd, data mapping, and business requirements documentation.
Experience in oltp and olap systems.
Familiarity with active directory, ad group security, and single sign-on environment.
