The ucsf real estate bim/cad analyst role responsible for implementing, managing and maintaining bim and cad standards for construction project documentation from project start-up through the final compliance checkThe analyst will review documentation and work with project managers, architects and consultants to ensure documents are aligned with the standardsThis role will also work with other units across ucsf to develop and maintain document standards and libraries.
The ideal candidate is someone who:
Is an analytical individual looking to utilize their understanding of data management and reporting in combination with autocad and revit proficiency
Has experience working with cad and revit files, bim models, gis and other data
Understands the basics of design, construction, and project management processes
Is proficient in reading and understanding construction drawings, documents, and standards
Has excellent written and verbal communication skills; strong decision-making ability, and is experienced in understanding university guidelines and processes
Anticipates team needs in order to provide accurate information and solutions.
Is motivated to create and maintain processes that ensure compliance with uc standards
Has excellent organizational skills and the ability to prioritize
Can work independently and within a team environment, remain current in technology and be extremely well-organized and flexible
Can actively partner with other team members from business intelligence, ucsf real estate, and the institution to identify, develop and implement process improvements
Primary responsibilities for this position include:
Partner with the project management team to ensure drawings and construction documents meet uc-approved standards, are complete, follow document naming conventions, and are stored in the system of record.
Participate in design reviews and compliance checksProvide guidance to project teams on standards.
Engage in the development, review and adoption of document standards at the project level.
Conduct audits of new and existing documentation to ensure consistency and standardization according to uc standards and guidelines.
Provide backup support for the real estate archivist for document management and information retrieval.
The organization of ucsf real estate is focused on the development, planning, delivery and management of physical space for ucsfKey responsibilities include a unified approach to oversee the active ucsf growth planned on a multi-site campus and managing the complex metropolitan environments affecting capital assets and projects and efforts to align municipal challenges with maximum effectiveness in support of the ucsf mission.
The department serves to provide the following services, which includes:
Building permit services: responsible for issuing, maintaining and tracking permits for all construction, alterations, additions, repairs, and demolitions, along with inspecting all building projects to assure compliance with the uc & california building standards code.
Business intelligence: provides integrated technological products and services in support of the ucsf real estate mission including space analytics, geographic information systems (gis), project management information systems (pmis) and document management.
Campus planning: responsible for all ucsf campus and medical center physical planning, space and capital planningProvides professional planning services that guide the physical development of the campus and assists in strategic development and improvements of buildings and space to support ucsf`s mission of research, teaching, health care, and public serviceThe department maintains the long-range development plan (lrdp) for ucsf campus sites, develops land use plans, site and new facility evaluation, and conducts environmental analysis to comply with the california environmental quality act (ceqa)Assess campus space needs and requirements, and annually updates the campus capital improvement program that draws upon state, non-state, and campus discretionary resources to fund capital projects.
Contracts administration: a shared service in real estate that partners with design & construction, bch-oakland design & construction, major capital projects, campus planning, and the facilities services departments to procure and contract architectural, engineering, and construction services.
Design & construction manages the execution of the ucsf capital plan and provides project management services to those embarking on capital construction and real estate renovation projects for ucsf projectsPlanners, designers, administrators, contractors, inspectors, and others work together to meet the needs of ucsf clients.
Finance, administrative and operations services provides financial, hr and administrative management and support services for all ucsf real estate functions
Real estate services: overseas ucsf’s real estate portfolio and structures and negotiates commercial real estate transactions for campus and medical center real estateThis includes acquisition, disposition, development and provides asset management services for over one million square feet of leased office, laboratory, medical, clinic, and residential space.
The combined ucsf campus and ucsf health includes approximately 174 ucsf and contract personnel and oversight and responsibility for a $9.7b long-range capital development plan.
Bachelor’s degree in architecture, engineering, information systems or related field .and / or equivalent experience / training.
3-5 years relevant progressive experience
Highly proficient in autocad drawing software system
Experience with revit and bim(building information modeling) software platforms and data
Maintain a working knowledge of internal and external bim, cad and geolocation standards
Revise or prepare drawings with neatness and a minimum of errors
Demonstrated ability to work with others from diverse backgroundsDemonstrated effective communication and interpersonal skillsDemonstrated service orientation skills.
Demonstrated ability to communicate technical information to technical and non-technical personnel at various levels in the organization.
Self-motivated and works independently and as part of a team.
Demonstrated strong problem-solving skillsAble to learn effectively and meet deadlines.
Experience with gis (geographic information systems), arcgis preferred
Proficient in reading and understanding construction drawings, documents and mark-ups.
Contribute to the creation, organization, and maintenance of revit and autocad content.
Thorough knowledge of bim/cad workflows and practices.
Strong analytical and design skills, including the ability to abstract information requirements from real-world processes to understand information flows in computer systems.
Knowledge of facility management, asset management, space planning and/or architectural principles is a plus.
Knowledge of computer programming principles, techniques and procedures for cad applications a plus.
