The emergency medical services authority (emsa) office of information technology is seeking to hire one student assistant and one graduate student assistant to design, develop, configure, and support security operations and tools as well as cloud applications such as ms 365 (e.gSharepoint online, ms teams, ms one drive, ms outlook, etc.) depending on the course work and experience, the student assistants will have an opportunity to learn by doing in the areas of security, cloud computing, application, programming, and customer support areas.

Project description the ems authority is charged with providing leadership in developing and implementing ems systems throughout california and setting standards for the training and scope of practice of various levels of ems personnelThe ems authority also has responsibility for promoting disaster medical preparedness throughout the state, and, when required, coordinating and supporting the state’s medical response to major disastersEmergency and disaster medical services in california are rooted in the skills and commitment of the first responders, emts, nurses, physicians, and administrators who deliver care to the public and operate the systemIn order for high quality services to be delivered with high efficiency, all aspects of ems systems must work together, mutually reinforcing and supporting each other for the benefit of the patientThe california ems authority, through standard setting, consensus building, and leadership, plays a central role in improving the quality of emergency medical services available for all californians.
In california, day-to-day ems system management is the responsibility of the local and regional ems agenciesIt is principally through these agencies that the ems authority works to promote quality ems services statewideEms authority staff also work closely with many local, state and federal agencies and private enterprises with emergency and/or disaster medical services roles and responsibilities.

Completed or enrolled in at least 2 mis/cis/cs/comptia classes.
Prerequisites must be a college student attending classes during the regular term (fall, spring and winter, if applicable), at one of the accredited colleges or universities on our affiliation list.

Duties and responsibilities learn by working with and assisting senior security and network engineers, information security officers who designs, implements and configures computer servers, networks, firewalls, and computer laptops, desktops, smartphones and tablets, cloud computing applications, sharepoint, one drive, google apps.
Physical requirements sit for extended periods; frequently stand and walk; manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination; corrected hearing and vision to normal range; verbal communication; use of office equipment including computer workstations, telephones, calculators, copiers, printers and scanners with or without a reasonable accommodation.
Working conditions work is performed in an office and remote environment.
Due to covid-19, student will be required to work according to the current uei remote workplace policy and sign a uei telework agreement.
