As part of the information solutions group within underwriting & pricing, our mission is to provide the technical tools, subject matter expertise, and user support needed for underwriters and actuaries to accurately and efficiently produce appropriate health care rates and supporting exhibits for our small and large group clients.
Specifically, this position supports the maintenance and ongoing development of rating and renewal tools for uhc oxford large group businessThe position requires an understanding of the underwriting and data needs of the business, technology applications and alternatives, and relevant development and programming experienceThe individual will play a supporting role, working with business partners, to support and assume responsibility for oxford rating tools and monthly rating activities, to develop technical solutions to meet evolving business needs, and to support the long-term strategy for future oxford rating platformsThe qualified candidate should have a solid technical background as well as a broad business background in or exposure to actuarial rating methodologies and underwriting concepts within a large group health insurance settingWe’re looking for someone highly organized and detail-oriented.

2+ years of development/programming experience
Expertise working with ms excel, ms access, vb coding
At least a basic level of proficiency with sql (structured query language)
Experience with health actuarial rating methodologies and underwriting concepts
Bachelor`s degree or equivalent work experience
Previous experience as either a health care actuary or underwriter
Basic knowledge of optum stepwise programming
General knowledge in health care
