Full job description
You will serve as a interior designer in the engineering division, facilities management directorate (fmd), of unif srvs uni of the hlth sci.
You will apply expertise of architectural and engineering design concepts of design internal requirements for administrative offices, research laboratories, veterinary areas, surgical training rooms, classrooms, operating space, and other areas.
You will plan initiatives for a wide range of facilities projects that range from basic single room renovations to major construction design projects which include entire building renovations.
You will interpret blue prints and related computerized building designs and provide interior design solutions, adaptations and recommendations for incorporating new concepts and changes.
You will review all construction designs and technical interior plans and evaluate customer concepts in designing optimal solutions.
You will assess electrical, plumbing and other utilities components and designs plans to integrate utility and functional requirements.
You will develop computer aided design solutions across the spectrum of design input.
You will develop visual images to emphasize specific views and technical aspects and typically require departing from past approaches in order to create new visual effects and optimize time, money, location and space available.
You will be responsible for interpreting and applying a wide range of regulatory requirements which include: building codes, fire codes, life safety codes, furniture height and width dimensional standards based on space size, type, and access points.
You will be required to apply requirements from the american disabilities act for special accommodations.
You will develop design plans considering such factors as function, user needs, energy use, building codes, durability, life cycle costs, effective space planning, aesthetics and economics.
You will prepare complete interior design drawings in compliance with agency criteria and needs of the project including floor plans, interior elevations, section details, perspectives and finishes.
You will provide information as to criteria for structural, mechanical and electrical designs, and writes interior architectural features of specifications and design analysis reports.
You will provide preliminary and final interior design plans for building structures, including finishes, textures, colors, interior and exterior color boards.
You will prepare complete comprehensive interior design (cid) packages to accompany building design.
You will provide detailed furnishings and equipment layouts and schedules encompassing power and communication requirements, type and functional needs, quantities, cost estimates, procurement documents, and placement plans.
You will plan room designs with emphasis on coordinated finishes to achieve aesthetic consistency with paint, flooring, ceiling, furniture, blinds, artwork, signage and related items.
You will meet with front line customers, managers, and technical subject matter experts to determine objectives, functional needs, productivity enhancements, and prioritization of importance.
You will make initial decisions on size, layout, type and quality of materials, color schemes, and lighting.
You will establish timelines, develop cost estimates, writing furniture and installation performance contract specifications and evaluating proposals.
You will handle the acquisition processes to include: defining requirements, preparing designs, establishing purchase requests; acquiring appropriate approvals; making selections, and coordinating installation.
