The sr director operations is accountable for multi-site plant operationsThrough plant leadership teams assures employee engagement, safety, quality, customer service, continuous improvement, cost, and production objectives are met or exceededProvides coaching and leadership to team members in the areas of employee engagement, safety, quality, customer service, continuous improvement, cost, and equipment reliability to elevate the team’s performanceDrives the executive strategic direction needed to achieve long-term operating and profit goalsProvides financial reports and continuous feedback to management to review progress against goals.
Drives strategic direction of the company within multi-site manufacturing operations
Leads a culture focused on collaboration, continuous improvement, employee engagement and delivering sustainable performance
Lead the continuous improvement program to deliver opportunities in safety, quality, service and cost.
Maintains collaborative relationships with matrixes organizations including engineering, quality, continuous improvement, r&d, sales/marketing, finance and hr and other departments in order to coordinate all phases of operations and provide optimum services
Directly supervises plant managers responsible for production activities
Provides support, training and development of plant staff
Directs reporting of manufacturing cost controls, cost estimates, capacity plan, human capital and facility requirements
Directs facility capacity planning and location analysis studies to assure that production is planned and executed at the best location assuring quality, service, and cost.
Evaluate and recommend facility capital expenditures and projects, review results upon completion including cost benefits.
Monitors manufacturing and financial performance and implements corrective action planning when needed to meet company objectives
Ensures implementation of operating systems in safety, quality, continuous improvement, sanitation, preventative maintenance, and best management practices.
Ensure that the entire staff has people, safety, quality, customer, and cost as the overall focus.
Supervises approximately 8 plant managers as direct reports: 8 manufacturing plants and approximately 1,400 total facility employees
Bs/ba in engineering, food technology, business administration, or related subject
Management of multiple plants and departments using financial, organizational, and administrative planning skills.
Lean/continuous improvement experience
Exposure to multiple supply chain and other business disciplines
Strong understanding of manufacturing unit operations
Project management skills
Exposure to new product commercialization and start-up procedures
Excellent communication skills
Thorough understanding of supply chain cost structure
Highly collaborative leadership style
Operational knowledge of equipment design, installation, operation (using project management and engineering or food technology skills).
Ability to lead and promote teamwork in multiple locations across all functions.
Computer skills including ms excel, ms word, and various other software.
Masters or mba desirable
Prefer food and beverage industry experience in a manufacturing environment, or cpg experience
