The information technology services (its) organization, a campus-wide provider of technology services for academic, research, and service missions at the university of iowa, is seeking an experienced talented software developer who will be comfortable developing full-stack web applications which are built by enterprise services – custom solutions and integrations (csi) teamYou will be a member of a high-performing team that values critical thinking, communication, accountability, and collaboration with customers and peersCsi has 16 staff organized into 3 subgroups focused on different technologies along with a dedicated projects manager.
Responsibilities include designing and building web applications, application programming interfaces and integrations across a variety of subject areas for campus customersThis position will work closely with technical and functional partners to determine requirements and create comprehensive solutions using modern technologies and agile/iterative methodsAs a member of the es-csi team, this individual will shape critical systems that are used throughout campus including new projects involving complete design work, as well as maintenance of a portfolio of existing applications and integrations including mission-critical enterprise applications and sensitive data, so attention to detail and quality are critical.

Education: a bachelor’s degree in a related field or an equivalent combination of education and related experience may also serve to meet these minimum requirements.
Experience (typically 3-5 years) developing web applications
Demonstrated knowledge and experience with:
Web based frameworks, protocols, and tools.
Web services apis.
Relational database experience, including sql and database design (e.g., normalization).
Knowledge of software development best practices such as source code control, issue tracking, prototyping, testing, automated build and deployment, etc.
Excellent communication and customer relations skills
Ability to apply critical thinking, technical problem solving, and analyzing system specifications.
Highly desirable qualifications:
Familiarity with the agile software development methodology and specific implementations such as the scrum framework
Demonstrated working knowledge and experience with jwt-based authentication and authorization
Experience with the spring/springboot or other java web frameworks and orm technologies such as hibernate and java persistence api
Knowledge/skill in creating attractive, well-organized, easy-to-use application interfaces
Experience with apache tomcat and java, on a linux production server.
Demonstrated working knowledge and experience with continuous integration (ci) and build tools such as teamcity and gradle
