The future forest company
We are on a mission to stop climate change by removing co2 from the atmosphere at scaleWe buy land and co-deploy three negative emissions technologies to maximise our impactWe’re on a path to 50k hectares of land holding, allowing us to plant 50 million trees and sequester millions of tonnes of co2 every year.
About the role
As general manager (us), you will play a vital role in the development of the future forest company and the commercialisation of new climate technologies.
You will report to the ceo and will be responsible for managing purchased sites within the us as well as managing the product delivery of enhanced weathering at significant scale across agricultural land.
The role will include:
Lead the vision, planning, development and execution for our work on enhanced weathering in the us, delivering a large scale carbon removal project
Develop, manage and communicate a robust assurance process to monitor project deliverables
Build, establish and manage the future forest company’s us team, to include teams such as (operations, business development, engineering)
Work with the talent lead to hire or contract staff, to create woodland on land purchased by the future forest company in the usa
Develop and maintain secure agreements with both internal and external stakeholders
Navigate the legal and regulatory challenges, and build relationships with local and regional authorities and bodies , as well as environmental bodies and networks
Communicate key strategies, insights and results to senior management
Responsibility for the delivery of the future forest company’s first carbon removal project across western usa
Coordinate and manage the movement and crushing of aggregate material
Secure agreements with agricultural partners for the spreading of material across thousands of hectares
Support academic research and share findings with the wider team and business
We’re looking for an experienced, credible and entrepreneurial business leader, to lead our enhanced weathering work in the usEnhanced weathering has the potential to be one of the most significant carbon removal technologies globally, and the future forest company is a leader in its developmentThis is a critical role with significant growth opportunities, reporting into the executive team, that truly has the potential to help stop climate change.
The ideal candidate will have had experience in the management of a large mining, quarrying or civil engineering project or business, preferably in the usaYou would have demonstrable experience managing complex projects and logistics, whilst maintaining strong relationships with a range of contractual partners and stakeholders.
You must have:
You must have a proven track record in leadership, and be used to working in a fast-paced and challenging environmentThis role is suitable for someone ambitious who wants to make a difference, with a keen interest in combating climate change.
7+ years product management and leadership experience
Hands-on experience delivering business results
Experience in building and managing teams, experience in both fast growth and remote working is advantageous
Strong analytical background, data driven reasoning with ability to understand key performance drivers
Excellent written and communication skills, with ability to work on own initiative
Desire to help solve climate crisis
Proven leadership experience in mining, quarrying or civil engineering is advantageous
Strong it skills with the ability to manage and support a remote and overseas workforce
A good understanding of the usa’s workplace and transport regulations
