Classification: exempt/salaried
Network management system engineer with heavy server knowledge and knowledge of optical networks.this person will be responsible for integrating nokia nms onto a customer’s existing server:
For the first time
For a software upgrade
To create a duplicate nms for system failover
Collaboration with customer to evaluate the potential impact of the nokia nms implementation into the network, review implementation procedures, and be available to assist customer to resolve problems with network hardware and nms configuration during a major deployment into a live nokia network.
Essential duties and responsibilities
This engineer will be primarily responsible to perform the following tasks:
Attending project calls internally and with customers
Working with customers to complete customer information questionnaires.
Assisting with building and maintaining labs to stage customer activities
Staging customer environment in lab
Preparation of method of procedures and acceptance test plans
Preparation of turn over documents on project completion
Learning new technologies and solutions.
Ability to provide on-site support as needed within u.s and canada.

Travel/shift requirements
This position is expected to be 90% remote engineering supportLess than 10% travel, international travel (canada) may be required
Physical demands
Sedentary work that primarily involves use of computer in an office environment
Repeating motions that may include the wrists, hands, and/or fingers.
No adverse environmental conditions expected.
On occasion, may be required to lift in excess of 20 pounds
Skills and abilities required
This engineer should have knowledge and experience in most if not all the following areas:
DwdmFamiliarity with nokia 1830 a plus
Optical transport network
Network management
Gmpls
Ethernet switching
Ip routing & networking
Virtualization
Linux
Dockers
Open apis like restful, kafka, tapi
Scripting and automation
Education and experience required
High school diploma.
College or technical school with a degree in electrical engineering preferred or computer science
Minimum 5 years working with linux and servers
Work experience in data center, tac, lab or telco environment a plus
Prior military service with telecom technical training a plus
