The senior leaves specialist will play an important role on sunrun’s benefits team by ensuring all leaves are administered in accordance with applicable regulations and policiesThis role will work closely with the leaves administrator to oversee all leaves of absence administration and internal process and proceduresThey will coordinate with external insurance carriers and leave administrators to assist with the management of fmla, disability, sunrun’s baby bonding leave, and ada accommodationsThey will work closely with business partners and managers to create a positive experience for our employees if faced with taking a leave of absenceThey will dive deeply into our leave and claims experience to better understand what is driving claims experienceThey will review, update, and create employee leave communications and checklistsThey will be integral to selection of new leave and disability partners.
Basic knowledge and understanding of human resources and related functions including, but not limited to, payroll, benefits and compensationWorkday experience is preferredResponsibilities:
Communicate effectively with vendors, internal departments and employeesThis includes senior level leaders and the legal department.
Ensure compliance with all government regulations and multi-state, including ada and fmla, and ensures that program objectives are in line with the overall goals of the organization
Responsible for communicating approvals, denials, return to work and other important information to team members, managers, human resources business partners, legal, and employee relations.
Primary liaison and record keeper for all internal and external communications on leave of absences and accommodations.
Maintains contact, both verbal and written, with employees regarding leaves, ensuring necessary employee status information is provided.
Build out processes and training programs for on-going education.
Facilitates accommodation conversations with employees and managers.
Keeps up to date on all department policies to ensure accurate and compliant communication.
Manage the leave of absence process for an employee from the beginning to the end of the processYou will work closely with employees to help them understand the leave of absence process and answer their questions, educate leaders on the leave of absence process, as well as understand and interpret federal and state leave laws.
Provides concierge level of excellent customer service to all internal and external contacts to the leave of absence concierge teamAnswers, triages issues as appropriate, working closely with the employee relation teams and ensures checks and balances on actions being processed in hr systems.
Manage sunrun baby bonding administration and communication with employees and payroll.
Strong knowledge of government regulations applied to leave programs, policies & procedures in the us experienced & condiment with fmla & ada administration.
Program management skills to include instilling proactive process improvements & preventative best practices.
A proactive self-starter capable of taking initiative & handling varied and difficult tasks with minimal supervision.
Minimum of 3 years of experience in administering leaves of absence and accommodations.
Knowledge, skills and abilities as normally obtained through the completion of an associate's degree in business, human resources or related field, or equivalent working knowledge.
Experience and basic understanding of federal and state compliance laws as they apply to leave of absences, including the ada and fmla, is required.
Working knowledge of workers’ compensation, short-term disability (std), family and medical leave (fmla), long-term disability (ltd), military and personal leaves.
Ability to support and communicate policy and procedure.
Strong analytical and problem solving skills, proactive mind-set and ability to multi-task.
Outstanding customer service skills, ability to remain calm under pressure and to handle confidential information appropriately.
