About the information technology department:
The information technology division maintains and supports software and hardware to enhance the functionality of the puco.
What you`ll do:
The puco seeks a candidate to serve as software development specialist 1Primary duties include:
Creating and/or modifying existing program modules.
Assisting with requirements gathering, design and development.
Creating test cases or test scripts for unit testing
Performing production support for it systems.
Leading focused discussions with technical topics
Reading/writing technical system documents as needed.
Following development best practices defined by the team.
Providing status reports to the business users and team.
Communicating and collaborating within different sections of it and business area.

Report in location:
This position will primarily service central ohio and the selected candidate will report to 180 e broad street, columbus, ohio on an as agreed upon basis with supervisor.
Work location is subject to change with notice based upon business need and policy change.

Qualifications
Minimum qualifications:
Completion of undergraduate core program in computer science or information systems; and 12 months combined work experience in any combination of the following: developing and/or modifying programs for computer applications, performing testing and debugging and assisting with analysis and design including 12 months work experience in the primary technology (i.e.,.net framework) specified by the agency in the position description & job posting.
Or completion of associate core program in computer science or information systems; and 18 months combined work experience in any combination of the following: developing and/or modifying programs for computer applications, performing testing and debugging and assisting with analysis and design including 12 months work experience in the primary technology (i.e.,.net framework) as specified by the agency position description & job posting.
Or 36 months combined work experience in any combination of the following: developing and/or modifying programs for computer applications, performing testing and debugging and assisting with analysis and design including 12 months work experience in the primary technology (i.e.,.net framework) as specified by the agency position description & job posting.
Or equivalent of minimum class qualifications for employment noted above.

Knowledge of: computer and electronics, oral and written communication tools and techniques, customer support and personal service, state and agency policy, procedures and applicable laws*, vision, mission and goals of agency*, software development principles and methods for design, development, testing and implementation of new or modified software, commonly used query language, mathematic principles relative to assigned area in it.
Skill for: reading comprehension, speaking, service orientation, and troubleshooting.
Ability to: stay abreast of current technologies in area of it assigned and deal with problems involving several variables in familiar context.
Salary information: unless required by legislation or union contract, starting salary is set at the lowest rate of the salary rangeIn most cases, successful employees will increase a step in the salary range within six months, with subsequent step increases occurring every yearWe also offer cost of living adjustments, longevity supplements after five years of public service, and wellness incentives.
