Objectives of this role:
This position has the option of being a fully remote in the following states: al, az, disOf columbia, fl, ga, ma, md, mi, mn, nh, nj, nc, oh, ok, or, tx, ut, va, wv onlyAlternate work location is san antonio, tx.
As a telecommuter, lead junior engineers in the development of embedded avionics software and hardware development using the agile/devsecops development process.
Support the development and testing of applications primarily in c/c++.
Perform embedded software design, development, coding, integration, testing, research and documentation for software systems, applications and/or real-time operating systems (rtos) in conjunction with hardware design team.
Lead swri internal research & development (ir&d) projects to develop advanced techniques and algorithms to support current and future customer requirements using open source or flight safety critical processes/techniques.
Work with management team to support updates to department strategic plan to determine required investments and swri ir&d`s for integration of new technologies and design/prototyping techniques to support future programs.
Daily and monthly responsibilities:
Lead microsoft teams meetings with junior staff and clients to establish requirements and lead agile/devsecops design/prototyping activities.
Lead a team of engineers in the development of embedded avionics software and hardware design to meet customer requirements.
Work with junior staff in the lab to resolve design issues in embedded software/firmware or hardware design during integration testing in the lab or at client facilities.
Develop proposals and perform as principal investigator for swri ir&d projects for development of next generation embedded software and hardware technologies.
Travel, as required, to support client meetings, testing at swri avionics labs in san antonio, tx, and travel to customer system integration labs (sils) and air force bases in support of flight test.
Requires a bachelors with a 3.00 gpa in computer engineering
Minimum 10 years experience in c/c++ as well software and hardware design, development, and testing for both embedded software (c/c++) and hardware (fpgas), experience in software, electronics and testing.
Leading embedded design teams using the agile/devsecops processes.
Supporting the development of embedded avionics software (c/c++) and/or firmware (vhdl/verilog) for flight hardware or other similar embedded systems.
Supporting development or providing inputs into proposals for the development of embedded avionics software/firmware and hardware programs.
A valid/clear driver`s license is required
