This position will be responsible for cloud (southern company’s tenant in the azure cloud) development, deployment and support partnering with southern company`s power delivery organizations in the electric operating companies (opco’s)The electric opco’s are leading efforts to fully utilize data, both internal and external, along with development partners to improve capital investments, improve reliability and restoration times, reduce outages, reduce expenses and develop better customer facing choices and products to improve customer satisfactionThese solutions will be built on top of soco’s developing tenant in the azure cloud utilizing multiple tools and strategies developed by our cloud center of excellence, information management office and multiple architects, business partners and third-party partners.
Candidates will need to have the skills and experience necessary to implement or aid in the implementation of analytics and reporting solutions in soco’s azure tenant and to provide ongoing dev/ops supportSkills required for this position include azure paas development including networking, security, data factory, spark/databricks, arm templates and ci/cd deploymentA successful candidate must be an innovator and internally motivated to find answers to complex challenges, utilizing the larger technology organization (to) while complying with standards, in an evolving environment across the opco’s and the toWhile the above expertise and skills are needed the candidate must also demonstrate past skill related continuous learning and a consistent desire to learn new technologies in this area.
This role is in the application portfolio that serves the opco power delivery, and in some cases, customer services and marketing business areasThe candidate will be working closely with business partners, third party vendors and the larger to to utilize agile methodology to move quickly through ideation to implementation of various analytics and reporting solutionsWhile most responsibilities will be supporting development, deployment and operational support there may be cases where direct development of a solution would be appropriate.
Education / experience
B.s., b.a., or b.b.a degree in computer science, engineering, management information systems, business or other related field, is preferred
Demonstrated technical understanding of how azure cloud application frameworks and other technologies can be leveraged to help meet business needs
3 years experience working with azure cloud application development, especially data analytics, and support is required
Experience working with databases & data management is preferred
Understanding of and experience working with agile methodologies is preferred
Knowledge, skills, and abilities
Working knowledge and understanding of azure cloud solution development technologies, methodologies and associated tools
Working knowledge of azure cloud architecture and tools
Recent experience and proficiency in azure paas development including networking, security, data factory, spark/databricks, arm templates and ci/cd deployment is required.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills required
Strong communications and interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively within a team environment
Organization, workload prioritization and project delivery accountability skills are required
Specific job responsibilities
This role will be the primary cloud development, deployment and operational support resource in the power delivery technology solutions organization, responsible as a member of a larger team for supporting third party and business partner efforts to implement business solutions
Subject matter expert for applications developed and implemented in this business areas – business process, data/work flow and reports
Impact analysis (functional, application risk assessment)
Monitoring of implemented solutions to ensure system and cost performance
Continuous improvement of the solutions, learning from each to improve the next
Third-party vendor interface and support
Behavioral attributes
