The role
Sotheby`s has an opening for a senior product designer in our cross-disciplinary digital product team that strives for design excellence across our breadth of digital products, including luxury e-commerce, auctions and artThe ideal candidate will have experience in designing mobile apps and websites for luxury brands, e-commerce, and marketingAdditionally, this designer will drive a vision for products utilizing blockchain, ar/vr, installations, and other forms of hybrid experiencesThey will be a strong team player and mentor to junior designers.
This designer will also support our accounts team`s efforts to improve client account ux/ui interactions by leveraging design system standardsThis role is based in new york, london, paris, or remotelyYou must be willing to travel to nyc for key events and international travel will be required.
Responsibilities
Lead product teams and provide deliverables through the entire ux/ui design lifecycle research, design, test and delivery
Collaborate with product designers and product managers on developing best-in-class products
Deliver final ui design specs for our mobile app, responsive website, internal tools, and other digital product needs
Lead and maintain our design system ui patterns and style guides
Review and mentor designers to ensure consistency of ux/ui design systems use across sotheby`s
Drive the adoption of a user focused design culture for our teams
Advance the practice of ux and product design within sotheby`s
Ideal experience & competencies
College degree or proven education in graphic design, ux/ui, product design, web design or similar fields
6+ years of experience designing web and mobile products
Exceptional portfolio of work for multiple clients and industries
The ability to see the big picture and tell a story that helps convey the vision
Detail orientation coupled with a drive for excellence
Strong understanding of accessibility as it applies to design
Experience using, contributing to, and documenting design systems for products
Strong understanding of ios, android sdk and hci guidelines for mobile design
Knowledge of front-end ui coding tools (html5, css, js, github) and an appetite for staying current on technology trends
Experience with figma, sketch, invision
Ability to produce motion design prototypes in after effects, principal, hype or similar tools
Excellent communication and organization skills
Strong leadership and mentorship skills.
Passion for design that delights users
Team player that can work with and coach partners in product management, engineering and program management
Experience working in branding, advertising, copy, or creative direction is a plus
