Snelson companies seeks a qualified candidate with 5+ years of estimating experience working with underground utility infrastructure in urban and dense residential settings to fill the position of senior estimatorThe senior estimator is responsible for leading the completion and submittal of proposals to clients by providing a consistent approach to proposal development and delivery in a manner that differentiates snelson companies from the competition.
This position is located at snelson companies’ spring (woodlands), tx officeThis position will work in an office settingRemote work will be considered for well qualified individualsSnelson companies’ core work involves heavy construction projects dedicated to the installation, maintenance, and integrity enhancement of oil and natural gas transmission and distribution infrastructure.
The senior estimator’s primary responsibility is to lead every level of the estimating process including: evaluating contract specifications, drawings, and scope definition, attending pre-bid meetings, development of proposal deliverables, and presenting executive reviews for bid opportunities.
The employee will report directly to the director of estimating and work in concert with other estimators and project support personnel in a collaborative work environment that requires the ability to direct and influence others not directly supervised.
Experience – 10+ years of experience in estimating or project management (or similar) in the construction industry with 5+ years of estimating experience for underground utilities in urban and dense residential settings.
Education – bachelor’s degree in construction management, business management, engineering, or a relevant discipline is desired, but not required for strong candidates.
Demonstrated computer skills – requires advanced user skills in microsoft office applications – outlook, word, excel, sharepoint, and teams.
Demonstrated knowledge of scheduling logic and p6 software.
Strong organizational skills.
Advanced knowledge of construction and utility industry practices.
Ability to perform in a deadline-orientated work environment.
Strong analytical and technical writing communication skills including the ability to facilitate meetings, make effective presentations, and write work plans & proposals.
Ability to accurately interpret and effectively communicate construction documents, contracts, scopes of work, addendums, correspondence, etc.
Experience with hcss software is a plus.
