Summary
The sales manager – turf and horticulture has responsibility for turf and horticulture sales activities and operations activitiesSimplot turf & horticulture provides professional products and agronomic solutions to golf course superintendents, landscapers, nursery operators, managers of municipal properties, athletic field managers and agronomists of every kind through our extensive experience and product knowledgeSimplot turf & horticulture also features the performancepack™ proprietary line of premium quality turf colorants, spray adjuvants, soil surfactants, and many other turf and ornamental plant management productsThis position will establish business unit strategy and optimize profitabilityThe position will report to the general manager, turf and horticulture, and will supervise nursery and landscape sales representativesRole will further work in a collaborative manner with turf and horticulture leaders in developing strategies and optimizing profitability for the turf & horticulture business units.
Key responsibilities
Provides for manpower needs of the location(s) by selecting, coaching, training, and managing performance in addition to providing leadership and guidance to location(s) staff membersProvides support for overall marketing programs for locations.
Independently works with location(s) operations and resources to supply products and services to customers including sales, delivery, billing, collection, and ensuring customer satisfactionDirectly serves as sales and customer service representativeResponsible and accountable for meeting location(s) sales, margin, financial and operational goals.
Provides input on strategic planning for assigned area and organizationEstablishes sales, and other programs to maximize opportunities at the location levelResponsible for special projects as assigned.
Monitors selling expenses and work processes and procedures and establishes expense allocations for sales staff in his or her area, which allow the greatest possible return on investment while reaching area goals.
Typical education
Bachelor`s degree (b.aOr b.s.) from 4 year college or university (or equivalent experience)
Relevant experience
8+ years related experience and/or training
Other information
Previous management and supervisory experience a must.
Adept at thinking strategically and applying this to all elements of the job.
Must have a profound understanding of the turf and horticulture business and market.
Must have strong financial knowledge and understanding of sound business practices.
Excellent communication, public speaking and presentation abilities.
Ability to manage multiple priorities.
