Full job description
Purpose of the position: advances simmons foods information management capabilities by meeting the needs of the various business units for major applications, including their functional, technical, design, development, deployment and maintenance.
Essential position responsibilities: develops custom applications: develop custom applications, setup, training, and reports as required by simmons foodsRequired to utilize complex tools to build triggers, alerts, cron jobs, interfaces, functions, packages, procedures and develop technical documentation to support all the aboveParticipate in upgrades and retrofit of reports and custom programsProvides functional and highly technical user support where needed.
Maintains purchased applications: maintains, implements, upgrades and supports existing applications that are purchased by simmons information servicesBuilds and performs training and documentation for these applicationsPerforms migration of legacy applications to current applications.
Troubleshoots: quickly recognizes issues and performs the steps needed to solve the issue as quickly and effectively as possibleIncludes other team members depending on the magnitude of the issueParticipates in after action review with is team to document resolution and what was learned for future referenceGives recommendations and feedback to the application manager and helps facilitate the growth of the application developersValidates any work done, whether development or issue resolution will be thoroughly tested outside of the production environment before implementing into the production environment.
Provides support: provides functional and highly technical user support where needed.
Physical activities: must be able to spend time sitting at a computer as well as working with personnel in various plant environments.
Personal protective equipment (ppe): as required by visiting facility
Travel: one to two offsite classes per yearTravel to simmons facilities depending on focus
Technical experience: 7 years applicable functional and technical software experience.
Computer skills (not all required depending on particular business focus): report design aid (rda), table design aid (tda), form design aid (fda), business view design aid (bvda), processing option design aid (poda), universal table browser (utb), business function design, object management workbench (omw), c/c++ - used in the modification and debugging of business functions, sql, pl/sql, microsoft office, apex, plm technical, bi publisher, discover plus, discoverer admin, sql developer, mtech reportingKnowledge of software development standards test and and production environments, testing models, error tracking, development and application lifecycles.
Industry experience: preference for food processing organization.
Minimum education: bachelor`s degree in computer science or 4 years or more business experience using and developing software applications and developing technical applications.
Preferred education: depends on is business focus.
