Description: this position supports the aeronautics field sustainment team`s hill air force base, utah f-16 system program office (spo) by providing stress analysis (finite element analysis) to engineering solutions to structural and mechanical non-conformances found on legacy f-16 aircraft while undergoing the modification process in the local depot facility.
This role includes:
Participate in all stress engineering analysis functions related to in service aircraft modification/service life extension.
Utilize depot maintenance practices and processes to resolve technical issues adversely affecting production schedule.
Utilize stress engineer experience in part manufacturing and tooling principals so that questions associated with replacement tooling can be addressed.
Utilize knowledge of structural stress analysis and repair concepts to provide engineering analysis recommendations on non-conforming depot and field aircraft.
Provide drawing and specification interpretations and clarifications to resolve issues concerning process specifications associated with the structural stress analysis using the finite element process.
Assist in resolving general aircraft sustainment issues by (finite element analysis and stress computations on structural repair recommendations, aircraft structural integrity program, analytical condition inspections, deficiency reporting, corrosion, paint/strip, quality issues, investigations, data development and assessment, analyses, corrective actions, etc.).
Must be a united states citizenMust be able to obtain a secret security clearance.

Basic qualifications:
The following basic qualifications are skills that a candidate must possess to be considered for this position:
Bachelor`s degree in an engineering discipline
Understanding and experience with the aircraft structural modification and stress analysis process.
Understand the finite element analysis process and experience using aviation structural stress and repair concepts.
Understanding of the aircraft structural repair of in-service aircraft process.
Experience with aerospace specifications and structural engineering drawings written in geometric dimensioning & tolerancing (gd&t).
Experience using computers with proficiency in ms office applications (word, powerpoint, excel).
Desired skills:
The following desired skills are not required but are those skills that would set a candidate apart from the others:
Master of science degree in mechanical engineering, aerospace engineering or manufacturing engineering
Microsoft access.
Ability to address interchangeability of structural components and assembliesThis requires a good knowledge of material procurement release system (mprs.)
A working knowledge of f-16 aircraft mechanical, structural and avionics systems, as well as f-16 aircraft maintenance.
Advance experience in using and applying finite element analysis on legacy f-16 fighter aircraft.
Understanding of depot maintenance practices and processes.
Have solid modeling experience with catia, solid works or similar programs.
Understand corrosion mechanisms and paint/corrosion protection systems for f-16 aircraftExperience in resolving general aircraft sustainment issues.
Experience with f-16 aircraft structural design engineering and demonstrated the ability to repair f-16 structural damage with 3d modeling capability in catia version 5.
