Senior principal supplier engineer
Ris engineering has established a supplier engineering (s-engr) organization to provide technical knowledge and process capability expertise to improve supplier performanceSupplier engineers are engaged in all phases of product life cycle, beginning with proposal development, new product development and improving manufacturing processes within the supply base through production implementationRis executes significant business with a large number of suppliers across the various product linesEffective supplier engineering engagement across this broad base of activities is imperative in order to reduce the growing number of supplier related issues ris has been experiencingThis role influences raytheon design requirements while aligning with supplier capabilities to ensure producibility, affordability and delivery of quality products from the supply baseCore focus areas include leading technical requirements understanding sessions (trus) and supplier risk and readiness assessments (srra) with suppliers and technical interface for process failure modes and effects analysis (pfmea) and supplier integrated product team activities.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Supplier performance management (spm) coordination with supply chain and mission assurance
Leading technical requirements understanding sessions (trus) and supplier risk and readiness assessments (srra)
Technical interface for product line supplier ipt’s (sipt)
Engineering support for pfmea, resa and other supplier evaluation activities
Sourcing strategy development and sc strategic sourcing support
Performing complex technical evaluations
Supplier assessments and best value source selection (bvss)
Proposal development, risk identification & mitigation planning and bidding
Supplier statement of work (ssow) review and oversight to ensure technical adequacy
Meet organizational performance metrics and goals
10+ years of relevant engineering experience
Strong leadership and people skills
Manage complex products and multiple priorities concurrently
Direct experience with supplier engagements, strategy development, technical & capability assessments, requirements translation & understanding, and supplier performance management
Detailed knowledge of raytheon enterprise supplier assessment (resa), design for six sigma (dfss), enterprise sourcing & performance excellence (espx), ipds, commodity strategy, ris design and procurement processes
Working knowledge of key product characteristics (kpc), robust manufacturing engineering, producibility and affordability practices
Must be able to travel between raytheon sites and visit supplier locations in support of business execution, growth requirements and supplier baseTravel between 10-25% of the timeTemporary telecommuting – during covid-19.
U.sCitizenship status required as this position will require the ability to access us only data systems
Candidate must have the ability to obtain u.sSecurity clearance within one year of start date
Experienced engineer with mechanical, electrical, manufacturing, or related engineering background
Factory experience including knowledge of rtx manufacturing procedures
Transition to production experience
Excellent oral and written communications skills, team building, change management and team leadership experience and able to work with minimum direct supervision
Demonstrates initiative, persistence and creativity in problem solving
Risk and opportunity management skills
Experience working directly with customers and program leadership
Bachelor`s degree (bs) in electrical, mechanical, manufacturing engineering, computer science, systems, science or mathematics, stem
Requires expert or mastery level knowledge of work area, typically obtained through advanced education combined with experience.
May have deep knowledge of project managementAdvanced knowledge of related disciplines within work area and
Ability to identify links and potential impact on projects, programs
A university degree or equivalent experience and minimum 10 years
Prior relevant experience, or an advanced degree in a related field and minimum 7 years experience engineering/other technical positions: typically requires a degree
In science, technology, engineering or mathematics (stem) and a minimum of 10 years of prior relevant experience unless prohibited
By local laws/regulations.
