Overview
The new insights & analytics team is looking to hire an experienced manager, merchandising & planning analyticsThis role will report into the director of insights & analytics and be our first dedicated resource to support our merchandising and business development teamsKey responsibilities include uncovering insights and trends that can impact financial, merchandising, and inventory management decisions, maintaining and enhancing reporting, assisting in forecasting, and owning building the team to support the businessIf you are interested in building out a discipline, establishing best practices, and jumping head first to drive substantial impact, we want to hear from you!
Key responsibilities
Navigate through ambiguity and proactively pursues new avenues to uncover business insights using data analytics and data science methodologies.
Work with finance weekly to understand brand strategies, current business trends and challenges, and communicate data driven insights to the merchandising team to ensure that bottoms-up teams are marching toward company goals.
Work cross- functionally with product, marketing, ops, and engineering to ensure execution of plans and strategies.
Manage cash back forecasting and analysisDevelop predictive models to support margin growth.
Own building out the team to support the merchandising and business development teams, working closely with the director to determine new roles to support the business, act as hiring manager for new roles, and develop and grow talent.
Develop a detailed retailer forecasting tool to understand sales opportunities to grow shopstyle revenue.
Aggregate bottoms-up forecast across all the divisions for weekly pricing actions, monthly reforecasting and pre-season planning deliverables, and effectively communicate rollup positioning to various audiences.
Maintain and improve merchandising and sales reporting suite to ensure teams have the correct resources needed to drive business decisions.
Able to independently and proactively explore new data insights such as (but not limited to), building statistical models to identify what variables are driving sales performance, to building visual dashboards that can provide new points of views into trends that’s being overlooked.
Minimum requirements
8+ years of experience analyzing data in a data-driven environment
2+ years of experience managing and growing a team of analysts/junior analysts
Expert in sql, tableau, fluency in at least one scripting language
Excellent knowledge in designing tableau dashboards that leverage large data sets
Comfortable with navigating ambiguity, delivering value to stakeholders while still developing understanding (building the plane while flying it), and managing up
Very detailed oriented and able to build effective partnership with multiple teams
Experience identifying insights, opportunities, and anomalies in large data sets, and driving projects based on data findings
Experience coordinating with bi, data engineers to research oddities or understand new data set
