This position is responsible for the design and development of packaging materials required for medical implants & instrumentsThis will involve performing design activities to conform to requirements, procuring services and products used to develop packaging materials, maintain existing development & quality requirements to gain efficiencies in productionThis position will help rti surgical maximize the amount of patients served while maintaining a high level of quality and safety.
Perform the required sterile/non-sterile packaging design activities of implants, instruments, and prototypes required of assigned projects Develop and maintain packaging engineering specifications, wi, ocps, forms, and packaging procedures Creation and maintenance of product packaging boms and routings Ensure the package engineering system is current to all applicable international standards and guidance Ensure the defined requirements for incoming and in-process packaging materials are met Develop the required final package inspection methods for all assigned projects Manage packaging design activities (dve & dva) associated with projects and report results Lead in the procurement of subcontracting services and products required for package design (trays, lids, pouches, cartons, heat seal tooling, label stocks) Write required material specifications and define package shelf life requirements Maintain current package requirements through validation/re-validation to gain production efficiencies Support capa activities related to packaging materials Address/meet the needs of customer’s requests or complaints Support packaging production operations for throughput and efficiencies Effectively communicate information both orally and written from processors to senior leadership. Manage portions of projects or simple complete projects with only limited supervision to include creating detailed and accurate project tasks and schedules and interfacing with project team members and other support personnel. Organize and prepare internal data and documentation according to company policies for assigned projects. Other duties as assigned

Bachelor of science degree in biomedical or packaging engineering discipline Minimum of 2-5 years product development experience Previous new packaging development experience in the medical device industry Demonstrated proficiency in executing validation protocols such as burst testing, accelerated aging, and peel strength testing Familiar with solid modeling, and cad systems
