Job title: senior performance engineer

Job description: design and execute performance testing activities for a broad range of applications and platforms to ensure all digital/physical retail and back-end it systems meet established performance and load standards as defined by business partners and system ownersDrive performanceBe involved with planning activities, working closely with software architects and technical leads to define the long-term strategy for repeatable and scalable performance testing activities within the organizationApply understanding of automated regression testing in a continuous integration environmentWork closely with product management, software developers and system engineers and participate in design discussions to understand system performance requirementsConduct performance, scalability, and reliability tests of business tools, third party applications and consumer-facing high availability and high reliability systems like e-commerce order management, and erp, and merchandizing solutionsDesign, orchestrate and analyze load and performance tests using a variety of testing tools (e.gLoadrunner, jmeter, stormrunner), statistics and analysis techniquesPerform analysis and communicate performance test results, bottlenecks, sizing guidelines, and recommended improvements for java applications and database specific issuesLead overall design, strategy and planning for software application and platform performance testing effortsReview specifications, architecture and design for various softwareLead environment setup, package installation and configurations needed for performance testingLead proof of concept efforts for new performance and monitoring tools (such as new relic, dynatrace)Handle special requests from operations for hardware testing and certificationProvide technical leadership and mentoring to team membersCollaborate with operations support and other teams to ensure robust production operationsBuild repeatable performance testing frameworks for e-commerce, oms, erp, merchandizing solutions, etcProductsApply knowledge of test automation in a continuous integration environmentTelecommuting within normal commuting distance of seattle, wa is required, with at least monthly in-person meetings at seattle-area rei offices.
Bring your passion and expertise job requirements: bachelor’s degree in computer science, information systems, information technology, or a closely related field, or the foreign degree equivalent; and 5 years of progressive, post-baccalaureate experience performing benchmark testing, performance analysis, and measurement of technically challenging applications in systems that require high reliability and high availability retail system including e-commerce, order management system, and/or erp systems or a master’s degree in computer science, information systems, information technology, or a closely related field, or the foreign degree equivalent; and 3 years of experience performing benchmark testing, performance analysis, and measurement of technically challenging applications in systems that require high reliability and high availability retail system including e-commerce, order management system, and/or erp systemsThis experience must include the following: 3 years of developmental experience with loadrunner load testing tool; 3 years of experience using loadrunner for http load generation, measurement, and testing; 2 years of experience with atlassian jira defect management technology; 2 years of experience with dynatrace monitoring tool; 1 year of experience testing enterprise service bus (esb) technology; 1 year of experience in object-oriented programming language; 1 year of experience mentoring junior engineering staff in performance testing methodology and practice; and 1 year experience in troubleshooting errors for high reliability and high availability systemsExperience may be gained concurrently.
