Essential job functions:
Evaluate work of others and/or conduct work, at an advanced levelProvide technical insight to analyze supplier risks and opportunities
Audit and develop suppliers to reduce cost/lead time, increase capacity and ensure process conformance.
Drive supplier production readiness assessment and quality improvement at each supplier by using diagnostic tools such as: supplier health assessment (sha), supplier readiness assessment (sra), supplier surveillance, zero defect plan (zdp), and other tools as needed
Lead process improvements and define financial savings calculation and validation
Facilitate and lead cross-functional teams to achieve kaizen objectives
Document current processes and propose improved processes through charters, value stream maps (vsm), and problem solving tools.
Standardize processes across supplier value streams, developing standard operating procedures, standard work elements, 5s activities, displaying manufacturing key process indicators (kpis) across facility
Manage and use project management tools to plan and track product/production transition and readiness from supplier/oem to supplier – start with risk assessment, transfer (tangible/intangible) inputs through process qualification at new supplier.
Conduct and validate production readiness and eliminate any risks that will prevent suppliers from meeting performance targets; maintain supplier capability road map (ready now, ready soon, ready later)
Identify root-cause and corrective-action (rcca), process non-conformances / monitor part containment / confirm supplier’s root cause-corrective actions investigations, gemba walk with purpose of developing continuous improvement of suppliers’ quality, cycle, and delivery performance.
Deliver training related to lean six sigma principles, methods and tools.
Perform related duties as assigned.
Potential additional responsibilities:
Support project management and program management to quote and close work packages.
Develop work instructions to implement best practices / lessons learned and ensure repeatability
Participate in technical reviews within your knowledge base
Ability to effectively manage multiple projects of various diverse scopeEscalate issues when needed in a timely manner.
Ability to influence without authority to drive quality and speed to meet commitment dates
Work closely with quest and customer personnel to understand pain points and high visibility issues
Utilize smes on cross-functional teams throughout na (i.eManufacturing experts in castings, brazing etc., quality engineers, procurement specialists, etc.) to identify, escalate and/or provide corrective action solutions.
Specialized knowledge / skills:
Ability to apply lean management principles, problem solving skills, tools, and techniques; a3, pdca, vsm, standard work, smed, tpm, 5s-visual factory, daily management system, cell design.
Ability to read, analyze and interpret engineering prints, drawings, and layouts.
Technical background in component assembly, machining, castings, forgings or other advanced manufacturing operations.
Advanced understanding of capacity modeling, time-studies, balance workload
Experience with quality systems and/or industry standards compliance
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Excellent microsoft office skills
Ability to communicate at all levels of the organization to drive changes, resolve issues, and understand risk to compliance and the business.
Identify supplier risk, sensing risk, making sure supplier parts are producible and supplier has capacity.
Strong written and verbal communication skills with effective documentation management skills
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in engineering is equivalent experience is desired.
5+ years working experience in manufacturing working as manufacturing engineer, industrial engineer, or production supervisor applying lean manufacturing and problem solving tools with a continued proven track record of performance achievement, and growth with increased level of responsibility in an operations environment
Lean / six sigma green belt certification requiredBlack belt certification, preferred.
Experience training and coaching others in problem solving methodologies
Due to the nature of the work must be us citizen

Travel: 50% (short duration, variable)
