This position is for a lead engineer supporting our customer in wilmington, ncHowever, the work can be done remotelyThe design engineering discipline is a growing portion of the engineering organization, executing various core and project engineering activities, and capable of providing a wide range of technical and project management solutionsWorking alongside structural engineers and project engineers, the project team facilitates engineering project success: delivering analyses, helping meet schedules and major milestone deadlinesOur mission is to provide full engineering solutions to customers, and be the full start-to-finish partner for each product’s life cycle.
Within this framework, it will be required to develop design concepts, execute design changes, and prepare drawings and specifications for the designs.

Develop design concepts for haleu metallic nuclear fuel
Understand the fabrication processes for component and assemblies, the post fabrication transportation and handling and the customer application requirements for fuel products and services
Prepare drawings and specifications for the fuel designs
Provide well written, well organized documented engineering analyses to assure design adequacy
Perform design reviews and production readiness reviews
Perform work with high quality in accordance with nrc regulations, customer requirements, and business quality assurance standards
Effectively communicate and collaborate activities with other team members on technical issues
Perform engineering change proposal evaluations
Create detailed part and assembly definition drawings and modelsUtilizing inventor cad
Support drawing release schedule.
Develops and manages effective relationship with various internal departments initiate and/or participate in continuous improvement activities.
Promote and comply with health, safety, and environmental standards, safe operating procedures, good housekeeping practices and the observance of protective equipment requirements at all times.
Attend authorized training in order to develop and/or maintain relevant job-related knowledge, techniques, skills, and/or certification
Participate in the creation and delivery of weekly progress reports to the customer and team lead
Participate in the creation and revision of the project management plan
We’re excited to talk to you if you possess:
Bs in mechanical engineering or another engineering discipline; ms preferred.
Minimum 5 years of related work experience with design and a background in kinematics and mechanics.
Nuclear industry knowledge and experience – asme bpvc section iii understanding a plus!
Proficient in 3d cad (inventor preferred), detailed modeling (kinematics and systems routings a plus) and fta generation, layouts and checking experience.
Working knowledge of materials and surface treatments.
Experience with gd&t (asme bpvc section iii)
Strong communication, organizational, interpersonal and analytical abilities
Sound computer skillsProficiency in ms office required
Demonstrated ability to multi-task in a fast-paced team environment
