This position will be responsible for both building and maintaining relationships with potential industry partners and coordinating the execution of in-licensing and out-licensing collaborationsThe position will monitor industry trends, maintain relationships with relevant external partners, and participate in the execution of strategic collaborations and/or transactions across proteovant`s product portfolioThis position will report to the chief strategy officer.
The associate director/director business development requires extensive biopharma industry expertise, network connectivity, proven financial analysis skills, strategic thinking, negotiation, leadership and communication skills to be a successful corporate representative, collaborator, and influential team player.
Essential duties & responsibilities:
Serve as an ambassador of proteovant, maintaining thorough knowledge of the company`s corporate messaging, discovery engine, product portfolio, therapeutic approach, and vision
Search and identify potential partners in accordance with proteovant`s business development strategy and establish and maintain strong business development relationships with business development colleagues in the biopharmaceutical industry
Stay closely abreast of research developments in the field via published literature, trade press, equity research, conferences, patent filings, and relationships across academia and industry
Conduct various assessments (including market opportunity, current and future competitive landscape, internal / external capabilities, etc.) and work with the chief strategy officer to establish and refine proteovant`s business development strategy
Lead business development initiatives, including:
Coordinate internal preparation for bd meetings
Build business cases, including assessment of commercial plan, market opportunity, and evaluate potential transaction financial structures for prospective partnering opportunities.
Apply modeling, discounted cash flow, net present value, internal rates of return and risk analysis techniques to bd deal valuation and structuring
Participate in structuring, negotiation and execution of deals and transactions
Manage hands-on alliance management throughout the duration of collaborations as needed
Bachelor`s degree in finance, business, life sciences or relevant field of study, advanced scientific degree preferred
5 - 7+ years of relevant experience in biopharma business development
Ability to draft materials such as term sheets, presentations, and other communication tools for both internal (e.gLeadership presentation, deal memos) and external facing activities (e.gNegotiation and/or terms decks, capabilities presentations)
Enthusiasm for collaborating closely with r&d members in a high-science environment and contribute to seamless integration of bd, r&d and all key functions
Financial analysis skills including discounted cash flow / net present value calculations
Strong verbal and written communication skills, including excellent presentation, facilitation and listening skills
Detail-oriented, self-initiating, organized, and capable of managing multiple projects simultaneously and independently
Demonstrated ability to prioritize work in complex and time-sensitive situations
Ability to lead through influence and network, while driving employee and internal initiatives.
Demonstrated ability to operate successfully within a dynamic team culture and changing environment
The ability to travel at minimum 25-30% to attend meetings and key business engagements
Advanced degree (phd, ms or md) preferred
