The associate director, development program lead is a key member of development program teams and is responsible for partnering with r&d functional leaders to lead development program teams through the effective planning and execution of drug development programs and strategic r&d initiativesThe associate director, development program lead is responsible for developing and maintaining integrated development plans for development programs in collaboration with the functional team representatives, to track and manage key activities across r&d functions including translational research, preclinical safety, regulatory, clinical, and cmc.
Responsibilities and duties:
Independently managing oncology development programs in any phase of development (discovery, preclinical, clinical, lifecycle management).
Proactively guide teams through creation, management approval, execution, and termination/closeout of integrated project plans appropriate to the phase of development.
Align input from diverse disciplines (e.g., translational research, preclinical safety, clinical, regulatory, and cmc) into a cohesive and cogent project plan.
Incorporate corporate objectives into program plan and driving the timely completion goals.
Ensure communications within and from the team are clear and effective, meetings have clear purpose and objectives, and that conflict is surfaced and resolved.
Ensure high-quality project planning, adherence to project management standards, enabling sound decision makingIncludes ensuring project schedules and risk management plans are fully developed and updated, and data quality is maintained.
Adapting and growing in a changing environment and building high-preforming cross functional teams.
Partner with finance to ensure resources/budgets are planned and managed.
Partner with operations to identify program resourcing gaps and needs.
Bachelors degree required; advanced degree (e.g., ms, mba, phd, pharmd), preferred.
Minimum 5 years of prior project management experience in drug development, in a clinical development, project management, business planning, or pre-clinical development context.
Proficient understanding of r&d drug development processes (both pre-clinical and clinical) and biopharmaceutical industry.
Outstanding ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing; ability to communicate to a broad range of stakeholders.
Ability to work independently, navigate ambiguity, adapt to change, and make rapid, disciplined decisions to enable agile execution.
Proven ability to network and collaborate across multiple teams with flexible, positive attitude and ability to get results.
Proficiency with integrated timeline/gantt chart development and technical experience with project management systems & collaboration tools is a plus (e.g., planisware, microsoft project, onepager pro/express, ms teams, o365 sharepoint).
Background in the pharmaceutical/biotechnology industries strongly preferred, including significant discovery or product development knowledge/exposure.
Project management certification (pmp) and/or formal coursework/training in project management strongly preferred.
