Full Stack Software Engineer

We’re creating a new platform to make protein purification much faster and far easier to get right.

Pretty much every promising new drug is a biologic therapy. These molecules are tough to make because they’re assembled by living cells per DNA instructions. Cells are difficult to control. Contrast this with traditional drugs, which are chemically synthesized in an older, well understood process.

Making biologic therapies uses bacterial cells as living factories. The process goes like this:

1. Code DNA for your desired molecule. It really is code. Then ‘print’ the DNA.
2. Insert the DNA into a cell’s chromosome at just the right place.
3. Nurture the cell to reproduce billions of times, with each cell dutifully making your molecule.
4. Extract all the proteins, then isolate just the ones you coded for. This is protein purification.

The purification step requires knowledge and experience. Our tools help all scientists execute great purifications on the first try. We’re adding the same advances we use in everyday life: collaboration, sharing, and iteration in an intuitive platform.

Creating a better tool is a challenge without guarantees. We’re taking the risk because we believe speeding antibody and vaccine development is a worthy endeavor.

This is a full stack software engineering position. You’ll have an intensely clear direction. Implementation specifics are up to you. Confident people will excel.

We use Kotlin and the Spring framework. Frontend is Vue.js / Vuetify and D3.js. ReST and Web sockets are mixed in.

• 5+ years of professional experience with a similar tech stack
• good design and architectural pattern experience
• commitment to clean code principles
• unit and integration test experience
• UI design and implementation
• startup / small company / flat management experience
• a disdain for bureaucracy
