As a painter/striper you will perform striping/painting maintenance functions at the port of seattle, sea airport facilities.
You will apply paint and protective coatings to the interior and exterior surfaces of buildings, structures, machinery, equipment, and facilities.
You will scrape, sand, and prepare all surfaces for painting.
You will prepare and stripe all types of pavement surfaces that include but are not limited to: runways, taxiways, parking lots, and roadways.
You will perform all journey-level painting/striping duties as assigned.
You will be responsible to complete all required training through our learning management system.
Who you are:
Experienced – you have five (5) years’ experience of journey-level painting/striping, completed an approved painter apprentice program, and the ability to lift 50 lbsWith or without a reasonable accommodation.
Educated – you possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
Desired – we hope you have six (6) or more years’ experience at journey-level architectural painting, experience operating striping truck/equipment, and a washington state class b cdl endorsement.
Knowledgeable – you are able to operate power toolsYou have knowledge of maintenance, commercial painting functions, product finishes, safety codes, regulations, and requirements for painter/striper workYou are able to work from technical drawings, specifications, and operating manuals.
Collaborative – you are able to work as part of a team and partner with staff to achieve results.
Customer service minded – you have strong customer service and time management skills.
What else you need to know:
Driver’s license – you will need a valid washington state driver’s license, or the ability to obtain one, is required in order to travel locally to project sites.
Work schedule – your normal work schedule will varyYou may be required to work any and all assigned shifts, including weekends and holidaysYou may be required to work during emergencies.
Work environment – you will generally work in all types of weather conditionsYou may be exposed to areas of high noise, various hazardous materials, work at heights and/or in confined spaces.
Washington state residency requirement – employees must establish a residence in washington state within 30 days of their first day of employment and must maintain a residence in washington state during their employment with the port of seattleIf a position is eligible to telework, work performed while teleworking must be performed in washington state.

Overtime eligible – you are eligible for overtime pay in this role.

Security requirements – as the successful candidate, you must pass a transportation security administration (tsa) background check as well as a criminal history background check with the federal bureau of investigation (fbi)Your employment will be contingent upon obtaining a port of seattle id badge upon clearance.
