We are currently seeking a director, design and development to join our corporate design and development team.
This position offers flexibility with a telecommuting work arrangement.
The director of design and development will lead our fitness center design team in collaboration with the fitness center business development teamOur design and development team is focused on working closely with clients, architects, and project management firms on the design and development of their fitness centers.
Serve as a leader within the company and work in collaboration with the business development and fitness center product teams to achieve business unit goals.
Provide design consulting service proposals via the business development team to prospective clients or directly to architects.
Launch all new projects and build solid relationships by delivering expert design consulting services, conveying value and earning trust from our design project clients.
Lead the design and development project managers and oversee a portfolio of projects for optum in the design and development of workplace capabilities for our current and prospective clients.
Work closely with a designated project manager from our team and with all stakeholders on each project through all phases of schematic design, design development, construction documentation, fitness equipment procurement, freight & logistics, and installation of fitness equipment for turnover to optum operations team
Oversee the equipment sourcing and procurement process within budget and in concert with all stakeholders to include the client, architect, and project management firms, where applicable.
Lead the ongoing research and development as it pertains to the health club industry and the design and development of cutting edge fitness and wellness centers to meet the goals and objectives of our clients in their respective projects.
Travel, as required to engage with clients and architects, delivering presentations on optum’s design consulting capabilities and industry best practices.
The design and development department is a customer service oriented consulting practice that works with current clients and new project clients on the design, development and/or renovation for fitness center projectsWe work in concert with our clients to meet the deadlines and deliverables as expected by the project timelines of each projectThe design and development team is a mobile workforce with time commitments to the corporate office, field based work, and travel requirements covering the entire countryThe hours have some flexibility; however, there are time sensitive aspects of these projects that need immediate attention and quick turnaround.
5+ years of business development and contract sales, business to business sales experience
Relationship building, client facing meeting experience, and presentation skills are required.
Experience as the primary point of contact to project constituents such as clients, architects, and other trade consultants.
Experience in architectural planning, fitness center design, wellness/spa design, and the proven experience and ability to lead design projects is required.
Experience and interest in being part of a wellness oriented and hospitality driven culture is recommended.
Experience and relationships with industry leading fitness equipment manufacturers to facilitate the ongoing research and development along with educational opportunities for the design team.
Experience and interest in the technical aspects of fitness center design and development is recommended.
Sharing a portfolio of the responsibilities outlined above is recommended.
