Key account director activities and responsibilities
Successful account directors at phase2 naturally influence their clients because they know what it takes to succeed digitally and understand their clients’ businessThey use their instincts to anticipate their clients’ needs and analyze trends for future opportunitiesThey understand digital strategy and know the types of challenges that companies and organizations face within their industry portfolioThey gain the trust of their clients because they are honest and realistic, but also because they can be depended on to follow through.
Client relationship and team leadership
Build and maintain strong, long-lasting customer relationships through regular weekly, monthly and quarterly outreach including check-ins, planning discussions, qbrs, and more
Ensure phase2 teams understand the client’s business, goals, and success metrics
Travel (approx10% - 15%) when required to cultivate relationships and participate in client activities at key events (travel not required during the pandemic but will resume when it is safe)
Set the tone and vision for each account (with a clear focus on the needs of the client) and collaborate with teams to ensure alignment across the organization
Act as a point of escalation and oversight for all projects being executed within assigned account portfolio
Account growth
Extend phase2’s reach at the executive level, remaining top of mind with key decision makers and budget holders
Own the account development process including the creation of strategic account plans, monthly, quarterly and annual goals, kpis, targets, etc.
Responsible for identifying, growing, and closing new opportunities within existing account portfolio (ad portfolios typically target $3 - 4m in annual revenue.
Responsible for achieving monthly, quarterly and annual account revenue goals
Request in-account referrals and pursue co-marketing opportunities
Lead the creation of proposals, presentations, and pitches within accounts, with input from key phase2 account stakeholders
Write and structure statements of work with input from key phase2 account stakeholders
Internal collaboration & communication
Write and maintain account plans in salesforce
Forecast and communicate projected revenue and risks for each account in salesforce
Maintain and regularly update opportunity records in salesforce
Partner effectively with delivery team leadership, marketing and sales to execute on account plans and initiatives
Communicate clearly the progress of monthly/quarterly initiatives to leadership
Industry and client expertise
Stay up-to-date with digital technology trends as well as industry trends impacting our clients and be able to kickstart conversions with clients on trending topics
Research and understand each client’s industry, business and challenges
Minimum qualifications
7+ years of experience leading accounts at a digital agency delivering a mix of creative and/or technical solutions
Understands how creative design and digital technology can add value and drive impact to a company`s strategy and overall business performance
Outgoing and enthusiastic about developing relationships with clients and internal teams
Proven ability to work independently and contribute to a team
Willingness to help customers find workable solutions
Bachelor`s degree or equivalent required, preferably in a business or technical field
Preferred qualifications
Product management and/or consulting background a plus
Service engagement contracting experience
Specific knowledge of business strategy and roi within phase2’s key focus industries
Experience with iterative application development using agile and waterfall methodologies is a plus
Knowledge of common web-based applications including digital experience platforms (dxp), hosting, marketing automation tools, contact relationship management, and online portal solutions
Key metrics for success
Monthly and yearly revenue: ad portfolios typically target $3 - 4m in annual revenue
Client engagement: weekly formal and informal check-ins, monthly planning, quarterly qbrs and events
Account growth: short and long-term account revenue and strategic growth
Co-marketing: 1-2 approved co-marketing opportunities (blog posts, white papers events, awards, etc.)
Csat: positive quarterly client satisfaction survey feedback and net promoter score (measured quarterly)
Physical demands
Frequently remain in a stationary position, often standing or sitting for prolonged periods of time.
Occasional adjusting or moving of light objects up to 20 pounds in all directions.
Continuous communication on live video chats, calls, and through emails and messaging platforms for the purpose of exchanging information.
