Job description and position requirements:
The smeal college of business is seeking a programmer/analyst to join our programming teamThe candidate will have talent and motivation and be passionate about developing solutions by working both independently and in a collaborative environmentThe candidate should be able to handle changing priorities and be willing to learn new skillsThe location of this position is flexible and can operate fully remote within the united states, fully in-person at our university park campus, or in a hybrid model of both in-person and remoteStandard working hours are in the eastern time zone.
The successful candidate will be responsible for:
Maintaining familiarity with installed software standards and procedures and evaluate other tools to determine the appropriate fit into application development .
Designing, developing, enhancing, and supporting existing services as assigned using software engineering best practicesThese include course tools, event registration and management, third- party software integrations, and other applications th at support the smeal college of business.
Designing, developing, testing, staging, deploying, and verifying application updates for full-stack web applications using software engineering best practices.
Ensuring all applications meet penn state accessibility and security standards.
Working with users to analyze their requirements; determine scope and specifications .
Communicating with end users using their language and terminology.
Investigating data and/or program problems; determine source of problem; take corrective action.
Proactively identifying and communicating any potential project delays to leadership and partners.
Required skills and experience:
M ysql server development or other relational database experience .
Java s cript libraries and frameworks .
Attention to detail and a proven commitment to customer service.
Strong interpersonal communication skills and interacting appropriately and professionally with specialized and non-specialized audiences.

Pursuant to the jeanne clery disclosure of campus security policy and campus crime statistics act and the pennsylvania act of 1988, penn state publishes a combined annual security and annual fire safety report (asr)The asr includes crime statistics and institutional policies concerning campus security, such as those concerning alcohol and drug use, crime prevention, the reporting of crimes, sexual assault, and other mattersThe asr is available for review here .
