The ochin billing services operational manger is a leader who is responsible for ensuring the day-to-day operations of a team within ochin billing servicesServices functions efficiently and effectivelyThe billing services manager manages their team’s performance and the development of its people, processes and improvements.
The billing services operational manager will be responsible for providing billing services to multiple clinics and will help their entire team provide superior billing services to obs clients.
This position will involve detailed financial analysis to recognize potential high -risk accounts and develop techniques to help collect money and streamline processesWorking with related executives and partnering director, the manager develops actionable prioritized plans and empowers team members to reach the organization’s billing services goals.
Manage the workflow of teams in alignment with contributing to departmental goals and objectives.
Execution of individual and team goals and objectives in alignment of department priorities and goals.
Ensure work is allocated to teams based upon account needs, and staff experience, expertise & interest.
Prepare and deliver ongoing performance coaching and prepare and deliver performance reviews for direct reports in conjunction with the ochin billing services director.
Use tools (i.eSkills assessments, audits, productivity reports, etc.) to measure technical skills and performance within your team when applicable.
Identify and resolve issues ensuring risks are mitigated and issues are escalated when appropriate.
Identify, document and improve processes, making suggestions and communicating large items with director and other organizational technical leads.
Expected to be able to analyze the revenue cycle for each billing client and determine current status, issues, and create solutions when needed.
Support the analysis, planning, implementation and evaluation of relevant process improvement projects.
Communicate and share information to relevant parties regarding team (decisions, outcomes, accomplishments, performance, lessons learned, best practices, etc.
Ensure bills sent out to medicare, medicaid, self-pay/uninsured, and commercial insurance, etc., area accurately processes following payer requirements and organization policy.
Prepares, delivers and presents an analysis of monthly team performance to billing services director that identifies areas of concerns and gaps.
Establishes and maintains positive working relationships with patients, payers, department team members, obs clients, ochin members, vendors, and other stakeholders.
Maintains the confidentiality of patient information, organization data and information at all times in compliance with hipaa regulations.
Must provide go-live support up to once a year based on business needs.
Assist billing services director as needed.
Team-specific operational metrics have been identified, are aligned with organizational metrics and goals, and team members track progress against them
Team onboarding processes are well established and consistently followed
Team turnover rate is consistent with or lower than organizational average
Team processes are documented, are understood by team members, followed, and are aligned with organizational policies and processes
Information is shared with relevant parties in a timely and effective manner
1:1 meeting with direct reports are held at least once a month
Direct reports have identified and regularly track progress against goals in accordance with organizational processes and escalate when appropriate.
Direct reports manage check ins, team meetings, documentation, disciplinary action and reviews.
The obs teams are continuing to develop and grow individual team members through professional development and in process improvements that meet most current organizational needs
Conforming to shifting priorities, demands and timelines through analytical and problemsolving capabilities.
Remaining focused in the face of pressure, delivering against timelines, not intimidated by tasks/time limitations.
Completing projects and tasks independently and with limited direct supervision.
Other duties as needed to support the organizational mission and goals.
Bachelor’s degree in a business, healthcare or related field or a combination of college 1-2 years of relevant experience.
Minimum of four (4) years of department supervisory or leadership roles
Minimum of five (5) to seven (7) years of progressive growth in the medical billing field with a working knowledge of medicare, medicaid, mva, workers comp and private insurance billing and reimbursement processes, and legal requirements of state, federal and county policies, procedures and regulations and the release of confidential patient information, including hipaa.
Strong communication skills – not only speaking and delivering messages clearly – listening and understanding multiple perspectives.
Knowledge of and experience with epic practice management system preferred
