We are seeking a talented systems engineer (modeling simulation) to join our team in plymouth, mnThis position can be filled as a systems engineer or a principal system engineer levelIf you are a dynamic and motivated professional looking to join an innovative team, working on cutting-edge technology – this may be the role for you!
This position supports programs on the fuzing and warheads teamAs a engineer specializing in systems modeling and simulation, for the fuzing and warheads development group, your responsibilities will be as a technical contributor and team leader on various product development or production programsYou will work with other engineers, technicians, program managers and administrative personnel to accomplish program goals.
Perform simulation in advanced high strain rate lagrangian and eulerian computer hydrocodes, on a high-performance computing system.
Using campaign level analysis tools such as afsim and various other mission planning software packages.
Work on warhead development programs, managing responsibilities and with possible need for directing the work of engineers, technicians, and administrative personnel.
Lead/conduct design trade studies to select the best possible design solution, taking into account factors including, but not limited to, system performance, strength, weight, manufacturability and cost.
Three-dimensional mechanical modeling (cad - computer aided design).
Presentation of assigned work at program technical reviews and in written technical reports.
Management of cost and schedule for assigned projects.
Preparation and planning of cost estimates and written technical proposals.
Design, fabrication and testing of components and assemblies related to fuzes and warheads.
Partner with business development and program management to present warhead designs and warhead design capabilities to customers.
The selected candidate will demonstrate strong leadership skills to achieve sustainable top performanceAdditionally, the successful candidate will demonstrate a commitment to ethics and integrity, and the capability to innovate while challenging traditional ways of doing business.
This requisition may be filled at a higher grade based on qualifications listed below.
Level 2: must have either a bachelors’ degree in engineering with a minimum of two years of experience or a master’s degree in engineering and 0 experience.
Level 3: must have either a bachelors’ degree in engineering with a minimum of five years of experience or a master’s degree in engineering and two years of experience.
Due to the nature of work for these positions, there is a strong preference toward candidates with mechanical, aerospace or computer science degrees.
Experience utilizing tools such as afsim, imea, or equivalent.
Strong modeling and simulation skills, preferably with high strain rate tools such as cth, ale3d, epic, radioss, ls-dyna, or equivalent.
Strong computer aided design (cad) skills, preferably with ptc creo (pro-e) or solidworks.
Coding experience with computer programs such as python or matlab
Possess an understanding of finite element analysis codes such as ansys or abaqus for structural analysis of designs.
Understanding of six sigma disciplines, design for assembly / design for manufacturing (dfa/dfm).
Working knowledge of microsoft office (excel, word, power point, project).
Strong communication skills, verbal and written.
Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment.
Ability to multitask and organize/prioritize job assignments in a rapidly changing, short turn-around environment.
Travel: occasional travel, (approx10 times per year to meet with customers and suppliers)
U.sCitizenship; must be able to obtain a secret clearance
Active secret clearance
Project management skills, including leading teams and prioritizing scheduling.
Defense or aerospace industry experience
Experience with performing work on high performance computers.
Working knowledge with linux operating system.
Knowledge of manufacturing processes is desired to include machining, 3d printing, additive manufacturing and injection molding.
Knowledge of weaponeering or explosives engineering.

Salary range: $78,600 usd - $118,000 usd salary range 2: $96,900 usd - $145,300 usd
