This position will be located in dulles, va, and will support tactical space systems division in the development and deployment of satellite ground software to customer resourcesThe system integration engineer will work closely with the devops and software teams to ensure that the ground software is deployed and operational on the target virtual infrastructure environment and that integration issues are identified and resolved.
The integration engineer is also responsible for developing and implementing an effective process for the program to follow, including checklists and related documentationThis position also handles automating the steps to confirm a software build has been correctly installed and is appropriately configured for functional system testing to startThe integration engineer is responsible for ensuring the related simulators are installed and operating correctly to support full checkout of the software system including simulators for space vehicles, input messaging to the ground segment software, and the bus between the ground satellite control software and simulated space vehiclesThe integration engineer will coordinate the build delivery schedule for all of the program`s task orders as well as the environment(s) and their configuration necessary to support system testing for each buildIt is anticipated that this position will play a key role in determining customer-specific solutions for maintaining operations while patching or upgrading the operational systemThe integration engineer will also provide support to performance engineering as part of the effort to determine and address bottlenecks in the system`s infrastructure/software architecture and implementationPosition requires communication skills (e.g., writings and briefings).
Ensure ground system software is correctly deployed and ready for system testing
Automate the appropriate software deployment checkout steps
Identify and resolve integration issue discovered during the build checkout activity
Install, configure, and integrate simulator necessary for system testing
Coordinate the build delivery schedule and required environment setups to support system test activities
Create and manage the process across the program for managing the build, environment standup, build deployment and checkout
Identify solutions for customer-specific requirements related to maintaining system operations during system patching and upgrading
Support performance engineering
Create and maintain engineering documentation for each of the above
Bachelor’s degree in systems engineering, integration, software, devops, verification or similar technical field + 5 years of experience or master’s degree in systems engineering, integration, software, devops, verification or similar technical field + 3 years of experience
Position may be hired at a higher level with a bachelor’s degree + 9 years of experience or master’s degree + 7 years of experience
Leadership experience coordinating and working effectively across devops, verification, or similar technical field
Hands-on experience deploying software and identifying/resolving integration issues between the software and software hosting environment
Must be a us citizen eligible to obtain and maintain a ts/sci clearance
Active or current ts/sci
- prior experience with satellite ground software - prior experience with space vehicle simulators
Prior experience with ground segment bus simulators
Previous experience setting up simulators and integrating them with mission software
Linux and microsoft windows system administrator skills
