Associate general counsel (agc) - global compliance & us employment
Location: flexible in continental us, but near a major nielseniq office is preferred (such as chicago, new york or tampa)
Nielseniq is seeking an experienced, full time global compliance & us employment associate general counsel to join its well-regarded law departmentThis newly created role, reporting to the general counsel & svp of global employment, integrity and compliance, will have a wide range of responsibilities, including proactively driving the global regulatory aspects of its corporate ethics and compliance program, overseeing hr, finance & security on nAmerican investigations, supporting global & us strategic initiatives, and mitigating risks related to all compliance issues, including us employment lawThis high-profile role will provide ongoing legal counseling to senior management and other business team members.
Serve as compliance counsel and trusted advisor to the company, including the global hr organization, legal team and managers on: compliance and integrity issues, including compliance with the fcpa, the uk bribery act, and other applicable anti-corruption laws; sanctions and export compliance matters; and us employment laws for employee life-cycle issues and investigatory resolutions.
Conduct or work with internal regional or outside counsel and hr, finance & security in conducting privileged investigations of integrity issues, including employee relations, anti-corruption, and protection of confidential information and company assets;
Support the corporate ethics program, including training initiatives and policy review, implementation and development;
Manage the compliance & integrity program to comply with sec, doj, and global best practices standards for an “effective” compliance program, including: annual risk assessment, targeted training based on evaluated risk, third party due diligence, design, implement, and manage policies and procedures to promote compliance with legal and ethical standards, and promoting a culture of compliance throughout the organization;
Work with cross functional stakeholders to ensure that the company’s compliance program is appropriately operationalized;
Develop and maintain relationships with key stakeholders to develop, implement, and continually improve internal controls, including resolving identified compliance issues;
Create and co-conduct training on a variety of compliance and anti-corruption topics;
Co-manage the company hotline including receiving, updating, and resolving reports;
Help the organization achieve and maintain compliance with relevant global, federal, state & local laws and regulations as well as company policies.
The right candidate will have experience or willingness to learn and handle:
Employment, and compliance-related litigation & mediation, including us agency proceedings;
Newly released guidance and evolving best practice us employment standards; and
Other matters, with employment law underpinnings, as assigned.

Jd degree from a top, american bar association accredited law school;
Admitted in good standing to practice law in at least one state in the us;
Relevant experience in the us and/or other jurisdictions;
At least 6 years of experience in-house or at a law firm, with a combination of in-house and law firm experience strongly preferred;
Must have experience counselling clients on ethics & compliance; experience in counselling on employment matters preferred;
Should have experience creating and conducting training modules and formulating policies;
Strong interpersonal and excellent written and verbal communication skills; at ease working in diverse / multicultural environments, and possess a global mindset;
Excellent project management skills, with demonstrated ability to oversee complex projects and lead to successful completion in an organized, efficient, and effective manner in a virtual environment;
Resourceful and adaptable to dynamic, fast-changing environment;
Strong working knowledge of a wide range of legal and compliance topics, including dispute resolution and risk management; and
Acts in a proactive, efficient and effective risk-based and benefit-driven way.
