National veterinary associates is seeking an engineer to support key business initiatives for our growing specialty/er business line, nva compassion-firstIn this role, you will help us achieve our ambitious growth goals by serving as the key resource for engineering the mep and medical gas systems for construction projects, specifically renovations, additions, and new buildsUsing strong operational, analytical, and influencing skills, you will manage a wide array of capital projects and partner directly with leaders across business units and functionsWe need a versatile professional who can dive deep into the details, while never losing site of the core focus on budget and scheduleThis is a remote position, however, will require 25% travel in the united states and potentially canada.
Day-to-day responsibilities
Manage the engineering for construction projects and inspect construction sites when technical expertise may be required
Oversee plan-checking quality assurance and comprehensive construction drawings (specifically mep drawings)
Assure all sites are designed in a reasonable matter, such that all parties are satisfied with the cost and expected performance of the system(s)
Contribute to ad-hoc initiatives, problems, and urgencies as appropriate
Oversee hvac replacement scope, medical gas updates within the sites (such as converting from bulk oxygen to an oxygen generator), and other similar projects
Participate in design and oac meetings
Inspect sites prior to leasing and approval to assure/confirm condition of sites, and inform proprietor negotiations on tenant and landlord scope of work
Strategic responsibilities
Lead new department initiatives that move the needle on how the company functionsExamples of such projects could be streamlining the medical gas programs and strategy, construction cost reduction initiatives, or energy saving/operating cost saving initiatives.
Responsible for ongoing improvement of the mep design standards and template drawingsYou will improve and standardize the method of communicating changes in standards to architects and engineering consultants
Mentor internal teams and external consultants and educate them on mep system design, codes, and standards.
Act with strategic agility to help solicit feedback from maintenance and construction teams to improve design standards.
Seek to reduce average mep costs by 3-5% over the first 18 months of employment
Community and development
Key member of the design and construction team to assist designers and construction managers with navigating
The ability to know the audience will help motivate and influence business partners by presenting results and advocating for projects that benefit the company.
You will manage innovationYou will research innovative technology and codes, implement into design standards, and educate various business partners on the impacts to the business.
Partner with other innovators in architecture, new site openings, procurement, and creative services and function as their technical advisor for engineering questions and design.
You will be a resource knowledge base for providing engineering technical and troubleshooting assistance.
Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in engineering
Experience in medical or veterinary is a plus
Strong critical thinking, analytic reasoning, and creative problem-solving skillsYou thrive when faced with a complex problem with no clear answer and enjoy breaking it down
Experience managing a large volume of construction projects
