About the role:

This role is the primary link between our business development, accounts, and product teams, and is the subject matter expert that has knowledge of our products and their inner workings and is able to develop and lead product presentations to customersFurthermore, the sales engineer will work with the product managers to develop and fine tune value propositions, sort out customer needs and bring them back for roadmap consideration, while working with the sales and accounts teams to understand customer needs and desiresThe sales engineer will explain products to sales prospects, assist them with testing and implementation, help existing customers with product issues, and drive product enhancement initiativesIn addition, this role will help coordinate planned outages, manage unplanned outage support, and drive communication of both types of outages to our clients.
The sales engineer will report into the accounts & operations team while having matrix responsibilities to the business development team, product team and having regular feedback cycles with the customer care team to stay on top of the latest developments with customers.
Currently, this position is 100% telework, however, as our company starts to return to our new normal, a hybrid work pattern, this position may be required to periodically work on-site at our office and the frequency would depend on the department/division`s requirementsTherefore, candidates must either reside within a reasonable distance to commute to our office, or be willing to travel to our office in herndon, when required.

Customer focus:
Present the value proposition of our products to prospects and customers and function as the primary product resource for our business development and accounts and operations teams.
Be the “eyes and ears” for customer needs and assist product managers in developing market insights for future product direction.
Optimizes work processes:
Learn and stay up to date with the clearinghouse product lines, fundamentally understand their operation and purpose.
Be creative within the capabilities of our product lines, leveraging your expert knowledge of the product lines or from collaboration with product managers.
Derive business needs from discussions with customers and industry leaders and capture all requirements to assure complete customer satisfaction through all stages of the sales process.
Be the trusted source of product knowledge; advisor/sme.
Oversee customer issues and manage to resolution.
Collaborates:
Help in understanding and resolving operational and complex questions from customers and internal stakeholders in collaboration with customer care and product management.
Communicates effectively:
Thrive on talking to broad ranges of stakeholders, from technical experts to leaders and operational staff.
Prepare and deliver technical presentations explaining products or services to customers, prospective customers, internal teammates and partners.
Be open and authentic:

What you bring to the table:
Bachelor’s degree in business, information technology, computer science or related fieldA combination of education and experience, including through military service will also be considered.
3 – 5 years of direct related experience in customer interaction, technical support, and representing products and services to customers and prospects.
Strong:
Client technical support, troubleshooting, and lifecycle testing (validation, user acceptance etc.) skills.
Organization skills capturing customer needs and organize them for consumption by others in business development, product management and care.
Collaboration skills, proven record of being able to align internal and external stakeholder needs effectively.
Demonstrated ability to:
Analyze and identify product/service issues.
Think creatively on Apply Now current capabilities to customer needs.
Identify tradeoffs in decisions and drive resolution of challenges across the organization.
Understand the complexities of solutions and systems and industry processes.
Experience with computer languages/programming such as sql or java.
Proficient in microsoft office suite; expert powerpoint and effective presentation skills in pre-sales.
Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication and multitasking skills, as well as context shifting between subjects.

Live within a commutable distance of herndon, va or may be performed remotely from any of the following states: al, ca, co, ga, fl, ky, me, md, nv, nj, nc, ny, oh, pa, tn, tx, va, wa, wy.
Are fully vaccinated against covid-19 or have a good faith basis for seeking an exemption from this requirement.
Physical demands:
Use of a computer for 8 or more hours a day.
Use of a telephone.
Frequently required to sit for 7 or more hours per dayAdditionally, when required to be in the office, sit in close proximity to others in an open office environment.
Occasionally required to use hands and fingers to operate, handle, and reach.
Vision abilities include close vision and the ability to adjust focus.
Must have oral communication and hearing abilities.
Must be able to communicate, learn, read, and concentrate.
Must be flexible to work after business hours and on weekends when necessary to support product releases and/or client launches.
Must be flexible to travel via car or other transportation when needed to attend meetings, trainings and other work activities at the herndon, va headquarters (5-10%).

We reasonably believe that the salary range for this position is between $86,250 and $108,000 annually and is bonus eligible.
