Facebook is seeking a performance and capacity engineer, hardware to join the capacity engineering & analysis team to focus on site-wide hardware design, performance and capacity engineering projectsThis person would be required to work cross-functionally with a number of teams to ensure the best designs for hardware and server architecture from both a cost and technology perspectiveOur infrastructure handles tens of billions of user requests, manages hundreds of petabytes of data, and thousands of gbps of network flowJoin us and help build one of the largest internet services in the world! this position is full-time.
Performance and capacity engineer, hardware responsibilities:
Work with vendors and hardware engineering teams to evaluate new hardware ideas, prototypes using quantitative methodologies and drive the selection and design of new servers for facebook data centers
Tackle the state-of-the-art hardware performance issues: analyze and debug difficult server performance issues, identify bottlenecks and optimize product/service performance to improve user experience
Solve hardest software performance issues: work with software developers closely to improve code base performance (e.gAlgorithm redesign), reduce resource consumption and shorten request latency
Develop new and innovative performance analysis tools and techniques and find new insights from vast quantities of telemetry data
Work with the software and services team to understand their services architecture and propose improvements that make the service more efficient and reliable
Work with product engineering, infrastructure engineering, and data engineering teams to find the optimal way to scale the infrastructure
Support hardware architecture design and validation of new servers with insights from production workloads

Minimum qualifications:
Bachelor`s degree in computer science, computer engineering, relevant technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
Bs degree in computer science, electrical engineering or other related technical field, or equivalent practical experience 5+ years of experience in computer architecture and performance engineering
5+ years of experience in coding & scripting languages such as c, c++, c#, java, php, python or perl
Experience with full stack performance analysis of linux applications
Experience in computer systems performance modeling and/or performance analysis of hardware
Experience working with cross-functional teams
Preferred qualifications:
Hands-on experience in building and optimizing server architectures
Experience with performance analysis of distributed systems such as spark, distributed caching, ai training etc
Experience with software components like operating systems, compilers and low level performance analysis tools
Experience architecting and optimizing systems at scale for data centers
Demonstrated technical leadership skills and mentoring others
Experience collaborating with service, hardware, supply chain, testing and infrastructure teams
Deep architectural knowledge of cpu, gpu, networking, flash, or storage systems
