Role value proposition:
Develop strong external and internal relationships to achieve client satisfaction, revenue objectives for existing customers in an assigned segmentation and geography of businessManage, retain and grow assigned book of business, including regional and large high profile and complex clients, to achieve individual and corporate goalsInternal liaison to implementation and operations areas for clientsCoordinate introduction/orientation/implementation meetings with internal business partners when applicable for new/existing groupsAct as the account project lead in achieving business and client objectives.
Key responsibilities:
Provide strategic leadership and solution-based support to expand and maintain business relationships with existing regional, large and complex accounts.
Demonstrate individual ownership and accountability in development of client and broker relationships.
Communicate effectively, consistently and frequently with assigned client baseContinuously working to improve customer loyalty.
Ongoing liaison/consultant through meetings, plan reviews, care calling, etcIn accordance with client service guidelines to ensure client loyalty, retention and satisfaction.
Ability to effectively manage high profile and complex clients in a book of business encompassing $15,000,000 to $80,000,000 in revenue.
Meet all assigned revenue, client retention and profitability goals
Notify manager of potential growth opportunities as well as escalated client concerns, continued negative feedback or red flags within assigned book of business.
Develop and present renewal strategies and recommendations and coordinate implementations for renewals, benefit changes and unit adds with implementation and contracting teams.
Partner cohesively with the sales team to grow and expand business opportunities via in-group growth and new opportunities.
Determine growth opportunities and benefit design, coordinate proposal and finalize sale, as well as, group communication needs (summary plan descriptions, provider lists, etc.) and benefit fair needs and expectations.
Strong ability to influence buying decisions with c-suite decision-makers.
Review and assure that client receives all requested reports, satisfaction results and performance guarantees within the timeframe requested.
Inform senior management of market trends that affect the management of assigned book of business.
Essential business experience and technical skills:
Required:
5+ years’ experience in account or client management
Health plan, carrier, broker or insurance background
Well-versed in employee benefits
Solid understanding of underwriting principles
Current life/health license – or must obtain within 90 days
Polished presentation and speaking skills
Independent worker, flexible, able to manage competing priorities effectively
Ability to influence client buying decisions
Preferred:
Preferred bachelor`s degree in related field or equivalent experience
Labor and taft-hartley experience
Consulting or broker background
Sales or ae experience
Underwriter or enrolled actuary
Cebs, nahu, maaa, cisr, or other industry-related credentials
Strong understanding of employee benefits principles and regulations
Solid broker relationships (western ny area especially)
Based in western ny (syracuse, ithaca, other area)
Comfortable with onsite in-person meetings with c-suite decision makers
Dedication to quality improvement and work product excellence
The wage range for this position specific to colorado is $59,600 to $79,400The role is eligible for incentive compensation under the metlife annual variable incentive plan (`avip`)Your eligibility for and award of incentives are governed by the terms of the planMetlife offers a comprehensive benefits program that includes medical, dental, life, vision plus retirement benefits and paid time off.
