The sales training manager’s job is to ensure that all sales professionals have thorough knowledge of the meridian life science product line, can effectively use closing skills, overcome objections, understands the competition, and use consultative selling techniquesThe training manager will work in close conjunction with the global life science commercial operations leader and should be considered a resource for the entire commercial staff, as well as the sales directors and team leadersThe sales training manager should conduct ongoing training for all skill levels, including basic sales skills, as well as advanced sales techniques.
Key duties:
The duties of the sales training manager are to plan, conduct, coordinate and implement a comprehensive training program for the sales staffThe training components will be geared toward new hires, existing sales staff and sales professionals who seek one-on-one assistanceThis is a full-time position; therefore, when the training manager is not conducting formal training sessions, he/she should be accessible as a resource for sales professionals to seek help for additional training or riding in the field with the sales team.
Program development
Develop a comprehensive training program that is unique to meridian bioscience, incGoals, values and mission statement.
Continually monitored for effectiveness and suitability to the sales team, the market, the demographics and the competition.
Include skills that will enhance the sales staff productivity: closing skills, consultative sales skills, overcoming objections, product knowledge and communication skillsIt should also ensure that the new hire can have a very quick impact in his/her territory upon completion of onboard training.
Training duties
Develop a complete program and assemble training modules (online and in-person) and deliver content in conjunction with the marketing team.
Prepares new sales representatives by conducting orientation to our sales process, developing individual coaching plans, providing resources and assistance, scheduling ride-alongs with senior representatives.
Determines training needs by traveling with sales representatives, observing sales encounters, studying sales result reports, and conferring with sales managers.
Improves training effectiveness by developing new approaches and techniques, making support readily available, and integrating support with routine job functions.
Establish consistency across the entire sales team on how our products are presented and the value-propositions are delivered.
Establish consistency across the entire sales team on how they manage their territories (reporting, funnel management, pipelines, expenses, territory routing, etc.).
Rapidly develop and deliver an on-going training program that that can be archived and re-visited by the sales team as necessary.
Provide candid feedback to sales management on developmental needs of each individual sales representative.
Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities, reading professional publications, maintaining personal networks, and participating in professional organizations.
Accomplishes sales training and organizational mission by completing related tasks as required.
Qualifications: education/experience:
Minimum of four-year degree in business, healthcare, or science course of study
Minimum of four years of sales experience with a proven track record in general, and at least two years of sales experience in the same industry as meridian bioscience, inc(diagnostics and/or life science).
Prior strong experience in putting training programs together and teaching sales techniques to others.
Skills, specialized knowledge and abilities:
Excellent presentation skills, as well as the ability to motivate, teach and inspire the sales staff.
Lead participatory discussions and moderate role-playing activities.
Demonstrate good judgment.
Computer proficiency (word, excel) along with crm.
Excellent interpersonal, organizational, written and oral communication skills and interact effectively with all levels of an organization.
Be a self-starter, detail oriented, organized and able to prioritize and balance workloads and meet strict critical deadlines along with performing under pressure in a fast-paced sales environment.
Highly motivated, readily adapts to changing priorities, effectively manages own time, sets priorities for successful achievement to sales plan.
Prior experience with sfdc and brainshark a plus.
Strong attention to detail.
Ability to maintain regular attendance and punctuality requirements.
Must be able to work hours outside the normal workday.
Requirements (physical, mental, environmental demands):
Must be able to concentrate, analyze and solve complex issues throughout the course of the workday
Must be able to travel by air/car on average 25-50% of time
Ability to work on a pc including repetitive use of a keyboard and mouse routinely throughout the course of the work day
Ability to sit/stand for long periods of time, reach, bend, stoop and lift throughout the course of the work day.
