Full job description
The purpose of the core it engineer position is to assist in ensuring configuration, availability and access to mission critical financial systems and services for members 1st fdcu, business and vendor partners and public facing servicesAdditionally, the core it systems engineer will assist in the overall management and administration of the credit union`s mission critical core financial systems environment, control framework and disaster recovery operationsThis role would generally not have budgetary responsibility, but decisions may affect the services or productsThis role requires regular analysis of data and the ability to meet interpersonal, analytical and organizational demands.
With moderate discretion, this role will focus on specific systems administration including installing, configuring, servicing, repairing and maintaining it systems to ensure they are fully operationalTroubleshoots hardware and software problems, takes appropriate corrective action and/or interacts with it service delivery team or vendors in performing complex testing, support and troubleshooting functionsWorking under limited supervision, the problems encountered are somewhat complex and may require analysis of dataFinally, the role will require normal courtesy, tact and diplomacy, which involves much personal contact with others.
Education:
General business knowledge equivalent to an associate`s degree
Experience:
4+ years of enterprise it support or it service delivery
3+ years of professional experience in systems operations and/or systems administration experience with software and hardware management and installation experience working with multiple vendors to resolve complex systems and service issues
Skills:
Problem solving and critical thinking skills to revise existing systems and suggest improvements
Design skills needed to help develop it systems ensuring the most effective architecture and functionality
Independent worker with the ability to quickly execute assignments
Strong organizational and time management skills
Skilled with computer environments, network operating environments and security methodologies
Preferences:
Experience with financial core systems
Experience with financial core systems
Linux or unix os experience
Familiar with scripting languages such as powershell, vbscript, javascript, or linux/unix shell languages

Working conditions/physical demands:
Ability to communicate effectively in english, both orally and in writing

Ability to travel, including occasional overnight travel
Ability to exert minimum amounts of force occasionally to lift, carry, push, pull or move objects
